PS Plus has a lot of work to do to maintain the momentum of its last announcement – and we've got a good idea of what they could do to keep the service moving on up.

If you’re particularly passionate about PS Plus, you’ll know that this last month has been nothing but gas for PlayStation’s subscription service. The addition of The Last of Us Part 1 in a shocking PS Plus drop to an already compelling PS Plus Extra and Premium October 2024 lineup was massive, the promise of more classics like Dino Crisis coming to the Premium tier and the arrival of Dead Space in the October Essentials drop were bombshells of equal magnitude, and players were thrilled.

We could have anticipated that any service update that would get a reveal on the stage of the PlayStation State of Play showcase would be a big one to help flex the offerings, but it was still a great treat for users. Now, though, attention turns to the future, and we’re left to wonder if the next instalments will be able to keep the hype up. Luckily, if our estimations are accurate, we could be in for another banger.

There’s no exact science to predicting what games could come in the next PS Plus Extra and Premium drop, but we’ve got our own means of guessing – to estimate the games coming to the service, we take a look at the games that released on it this time last year. We’ll take the games in its rollout and their original release dates, add a year to those dates, and see which titles came out in this time. It’s not bang on, but it turns out some interesting results.

The PS Plus Extra and Premium 2023 titles were headlined by Gotham Knights, which launched in October 2022. This means we should look to October 2023 for our new big hitters, which reveals that we could see the likes of Alan Wake 2, Sonic Superstars or even Assassin’s Creed Mirage come to the service. It’d be a whopper of a month if it did, especially with the recent PlayStation State of Play revealing more Control-themed DLC to come to Alan Wake 2.

The PS Plus October 2024 Extra and Premium games reveal date will be Wednesday, October 9, at 4:30pm BST / 11:30am EDT, / 8:30am PDT. The games usually get revealed on the first Wednesday after the reveal of the month’s PS Plus Essentials lineup, but as the collection of PS Plus announcements at the recent State of Play showcase threw a spanner in the works, and Wednesday, October 2 has now been and gone, this is when we can expect an announcement of the game. Our PS Plus reveal date prediction is also the same date in which the long-running PS Plus predictions Reddit thread expects the games to drop, so it's a solid guestimation.

There’s plenty that PlayStation could do with this drop, but as the PS Plus service dropped a massive wave of announcements during the State of Play, it’s got a lot of work to do to keep up the momentum. Here’s hoping the company can manage it.
