Prince William and Princess Kate's rural home, Anmer Hall, is the perfect retreat for their family. It boasts a tennis court, swimming pool and a huge garden for George, Charlotte and Louis to play in. And it's just a short drive to the beach, which is another popular hangout for the royals.

Kate, William and their three children are known to enjoy spending time by the sea - and they also like to enjoy a seaside speciality. Onlookers were stunned to spot Princess Kate giving her brood a treat towards the end of their school summer holidays - fish and chips. According to HELLO!, a holiday homeowner in Norfolk spoke to UK holiday provider, Parkdean Resorts , and revealed they had seen Kate and the three children visiting Eric's Fish and Chip Shop in Thornham, Norfolk. The lucky local: "I was amazed when I arrived at Eric's in Thornham and spotted Kate and the kids. We've been regulars at Eric's for a while, so it's fantastic to see the word spreading about how great it is. It is now officially 'fit for a royal!'"

Kate and her children aren't the only ones to enjoy tucking into fish and chips. In an interview with her son Tom Parker Bowles for YOU Magazine, Queen Camilla revealed her favourite takeaway is a classic British staple. "Freshly cooked fish and chips, wrapped in paper," she said. "That smell. You cannot beat proper fish and chips."

And even the late Queen was partial to the seaside fare. The late monarch would order the tasty treat when she stayed at her beloved Scottish retreat, Balmoral - and would send a footman to collect her order. An insider previously confirmed to Fabulous: "She very occasionally treated herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral. A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater."

While Kate clearly enjoys the popular dish, she revealed her number one takeaway while speaking to BBC Radio 1 with Prince William in 2017. Kate said: "Curry, definitely," before clarifying that William wouldn't eat it with her as he is not a fan of spicy food. The couple added: "It doesn't usually get ordered to the palace, we tend to go and pick it up," before jokingly adding "not ourselves!"

While appearing on That Peter Crouch Podcast, the Prince confirmed he struggles with spice, saying: "Chicken masala, love that, a bit of flavour - I'm not a vindaloo man put it that way." He also confessed he finds it hard to decide which cuisine to go for when choosing a takeaway. "It's a real conundrum when it comes to it. Pizza, curry, or Chinese,' he admitted.

But one takeaway that William really does love is a cheeky Nando's. During the BBC documentary, Football , Prince William and Our Mental Health , which aired in May 2020, the royal stated: "Everyone loves a Nando's," before adding that it had been a while since he had treated himself to a burger or pitta. He joked: "In fact, the policeman who's on with me again [today], he's the one who gets me the Nando's the whole time. It's his fault."
