Huw Edwards' wife has reportedly filed for divorce.

Sources claim the disgraced news anchor put Vicky Flind "through hell". The pair were married for 30 years and share five children. It has been reported Vicky has launched proceedings to end their marriage after she kicked him out of their home. The disgraced BBC newsreader, 63, was given six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, in September after he pleaded guilty to having made indecent images of children.

The sentence came after father-of-five was arrested in November 2023 following the findings of South Wales Police that he had been involved in a sick WhatsApp conversation with convicted paedophile Alex Williams, 25. The felon was said to have sent Edwards 41 images of child abuse between December 2020 and August 2021. Seven of the indecent images were Category A, which is the worst category of its kind.

It has now been reported Edwards and his wife Vicky are divorcing. A source told the Sun: “Vicky had enough of Edwards a long time ago but this is the final nail in the coffin of their relationship. He’s put her and their family through hell, so this was inevitable. Unsurprisingly, they separated a long time ago and Edwards has been living elsewhere, but it is now official.

They added: “Vicky is not talking to him and they now only communicate via lawyers.” The news comes just hours after reported Edwards put up his £4.75 million home in London up for sale. It was the home he shared with his family as Vicky and Edwards purchased the property in 2006 for £1.85m.

The six-bedroom property is described as a 'substantial detached mid century family house' in south London. Less than a month ago, the once revered Welsh journalist was given a suspended jail sentence. Edwards appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court in September for sentencing after he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children in July.

The disgraced presenter was given six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, with a requirement to complete a sex offender programme. Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring also declined to make him the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, saying he "did not pose a risk to the public". He said, however, that Edwards would be on the Sexual Offenders' Register for seven years.

Mr Goldspring told the ex-News at Ten presenter: "The impact of child sexual abuse can be severe and lifelong." He then told Edwards his "reputation is in tatters," while starting his sentencing remarks. Mr Goldspring said: "Perhaps it does not need saying that you are of previous good character having enjoyed a very successful career in the media You were highly regarded for your dedication and professionalism, perhaps the most recognised journalist in the UK. Your reputation is in tatters."

Edwards and Vicky got engaged in 1993 and are said to have met when he was 30 and working as a BBC correspondent in Westminster. Vicky is two years his junior and has worked on shows including ITV's Peston and BBC One's This Week. Edwards was one of the main BBC One's Ten O'Clock News presenters and announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. He went on to front coverage of the late Queen's funeral, which led to him and his colleagues winning a TRIC award.

The Mirror has contacted Edwards' representative for comment.
