Married At First Sight star Peggy Rose has blasted her ex, Georges Bert, as she has finally given her side of the story about their explosive break up.

The 33-year-old reality star swapped vows with 31-year-old Georges on the smash E4 dating show last year. Viewers watched as the couple appeared to slowly fall head over heels with each other as they let down their walls and shared their true feelings.

But the romance came to an abrupt end once the show finished filming and there have been allegations that Georges may not have been completely loyal - allegations he has strenuously denied. Now Peggy has opened up about the failed relationship and has not held back as she gave her side of the story.

Despite being seemingly well matched on the show, Peggy has said she only felt she got to know the real side of Georges once the cameras stopped rolling. She said he became "big headed" and boasted to her about being "desired" by other women, prompting her to grow concerned by Christmas last year.

The couple were still together in January and went on what was intended to be a romantic trip to Paris for Peggy's birthday, however, she was left with a feeling that "something" had happened outside of their relationship. They split and released a joint statement that month, but on Valentine's Day, Peggy claimed that another woman had shown her photos and video of Georges on dates with other women in December.

She told The Sun: “When you are in the public eye, you can't get away with anything. You can't cheat on someone and expect to get away with it. You can't talk to another girl without people seeing it." She added: "I was heartbroken. I remember crying my eyes out. I feel like I trusted my gut in the show, which is a bit hard because I did put Georges before my family, and despite my family's concerns about Georges, I did go with my gut. And to be fair, my family ended up loving Georges, which is hard because they trusted him too."

Peggy went on to say that she now realises the painful breakup was a blessing in disguise as she is now dating a new man who shares her life goals - and she is delighted he is not a celebrity. She revealed: “I am quite a private person. Yeah, I put my life on TV but I didn't do it for the fame. I didn't do it for people to know everything about my life.

“I did it for love, because I do want love. My brother's happily married. My mum and dad have a great relationship. Despite my dad being a bit how he is, my mum puts up with it, and you do think I want that, and that's why I did it, because I wanted that for myself, not for anyone else. And I guess that's the hard bit. But no, this person isn't in the public eye. He's just a normal guy, he's not a millionaire.”

Peggy and Georges had not shared the same ambitions about having children, and she says her new love interest does have this desire. She also told the publication her experience on Married At First Sight has not put her off the idea of getting married for real in the future.

The Mirror has contacted a representative of Georges for comment.
