An aesthetician has spilled the beans on a growing trend among men who are seeking to "slow down the ageing process" using injectable treatments packed with fish sperm.

Dr Patrick Robson, affectionately dubbed Dr Pat, has noticed an uptick in clients eager to try the unconventional method, especially after Kim Kardashian broadcasted her own escapade with the treatment on her reality TV show. The peculiar procedure involves injecting salmon DNA, which is extracted from sperm, into facial zones like beneath the eyes.

Despite its oddity, Dr Pat insists that the outcomes are nothing short of impressive. Those who've undergone the treatment boast about their diminished wrinkles and fine lines, a glow-up in skin radiance, and an overall rejuvenated look. The magic apparently lies in the salmon DNA's knack for kick-starting collagen production.

"The potential is there to slow down the ageing process of the skin", Dr Pat, who offers his expertise at King Street Grooming in the heart of Manchester, told the Manchester Evening News. We can't stop the natural ageing process but we can certainly delay it by enhancing skin vitality with treatments like this.

"By our 30s, collagen production starts to decline, and this procedure helps to stimulate the skin's cells to produce more collagen. People often feel they look younger as a result." Since his arrival at King Street Grooming two years back, the 51 year old has seen a boom in men taking the plunge into skincare and aesthetics.

He said: "It's traditionally been a challenge to get men interested in treatments like this but that's changed recently. Seeing men on TikTok, Instagram and reality TV taking care of their skin has helped destigmatize male grooming. Now, over half of our clientele are men an unusual statistic in the aesthetics industry."

One satisfied customer, 27 year old Tommy Davison, who is at the helm of a bustling Manchester restaurant, has just wrapped up his third session with Dr Pat. Tommy, fresh from his last appointment in mid-August, shared: "I work long hours and start early, which affects my sleep and my skin.

"I had noticed my skin looking tired and dehydrated, and when I first heard about Vitaran Polynucleotides, I was sceptical, especially since I had tried other skin boosters before. But after researching the treatment and watching videos on Instagram and YouTube, I decided to give it a shot."

Post-treatment, Tommy enthuses: "After visiting Dr Pat, my skin feels more hydrated, and I've received countless compliments on my appearance. The treatment has given me a healthy glow and the most noticeable improvement is under my eyes, where I used to have dark circles from lack of sleep. The area is now much brighter and I look refreshed."

Dr Pat, with nearly three decades as a dentist and a focus on non-surgical aesthetic procedures, describes how the technique involves injecting purified and sterilised polynucleotides from salmon or trout sperm into the skin. The doctor explained: "These polynucleotides stimulate fibroblast cells to promote collagen production, increase skin cell turnover, and enhance skin elasticity.

"This helps treat lines and wrinkles, improve skin hydration and even address acne and scarring." He added: "The treatment also reduces hyperpigmentation, redness and rosacea by affecting melanocytes in the skin, leading to a more even skin tone." Although the facial procedure is a hit amongst clients, they've been told these miracle products work wonders on all skin areas.
