Hidden gem in unexpected part of UK has been named country's best staycation location
Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire has been named the best hidden gem for a staycation in the UK - and it's easy to see why it's so popular with tourists
by Paige Ingram, Kris Boratyn · The MirrorBeautiful staycations in the UK can be hard to find, but there are a few hidden gems that are well worth the research and will not disappoint - Robin Hood's Bay beeing one of them.
Nestled in North Yorkshire, it has been hailed as the top hidden gem for a staycation in the UK. Despite not being as Instagram-famous as other tourist spots, this charming seaside village is brimming with appeal and is an ideal destination for those seeking a tranquil retreat.
According to finance experts at Aqua, Robin Hood's Bay tops the list of hidden gems for a staycation. The village, despite its allure, only garners 2,400 Google searches a month and boasts around 107,859 Instagram posts - quite a modest figure for a place with so much to offer.
The experts suggest that sometimes the best places are those not swamped with social media tags, allowing visitors to unwind and discover somewhere slightly off the usual tourist trail. Robin Hood's Bay is a delightful village with unique scenery.

From its quaint shops, cosy cafes and traditional pubs, there's plenty for visitors to enjoy. What truly sets it apart, however, are the picturesque walking and cycling paths that encircle the area, offering breathtaking views of the Yorkshire coast.
Visitors can pick from a range of activities including cliff-top hikes or cycling through the nearby countryside. The village's location also makes it an excellent base for exploring neighbouring towns like Whitby and Scarborough, reports the Express.
So, whether visitors fancy a relaxing beach day or a diary full of activities, they're in the right spot. For history buffs, the quaint narrow streets and old cottages of Robin Hood's Bay add to its charm.
Other UK staycation spots that are a must-visit, according to experts, include The New Forest and Malvern, which bagged second and third place in the study.
The New Forest is famed for its free-roaming horses and stunning walking trails, while Malvern, nestled at the foot of the Malvern Hills, is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ideal for walkers and cyclists.
