by Lucretia Munro · The MirrorMarried At First Sight star Emma Barnes was forced to sit through negative comments made by her husband Casper Todd about her appearance, during moments of their stint on the show.
Since their honeymoon, the couple were not able to recover and rebuild their relationship and finally admitted defeat last month, as they mutually agreed to leave the show. But it seems Emma has now been able to brush herself off, as she posted a stunning picture of herself in a flattering swimsuit, ahead of taking a dip in a local swimming pool.
With her hair loosely tied up in a bun and one arm up in the air, the MAFS TV star appeared happier than ever a she took a selfie in front of the mirror. And fans wasted no time in commenting on her post. One person said: "You are so beautiful Emma." Another person wrote: "You are beautiful. Love your smile, attitude and sass."
Meanwhile a third person added: "You are tremendous, a true woman! Girl power, Casper didn’t know what was beautiful in front of him! Here’s to curvy gals! Loved watching you." And a fourth fan penned: "Well you look happier than most married women!"
While on the show, Emma tried to maintain a happy go lucky demeanour despite Casper's noticeable detachment. And when confronted, he candidly told her that he was struggling to form a connection. And the reason was down to the fact he's "rarely gone for the curvier person."
It was obvious to viewers that his comments affected his wife on the show and while speaking to the experts, was made aware of his error. However, the pair tried to connect over the weeks, but Emma openly said that she was not able to be emotionally vulnerable for Casper.
He then made it clear that without emotional vulnerability from her, he was unable to be physically intimate. Weeks on, despite help from the experts and friends and family, the couple called it quits and said their goodbyes. And since their departure episode aired, Emma has regularly posted images of herself out and about at a baby shower, catching up with friends and attending a swimming pool.
Soon after the love-hate episode aired, Emma took to TikTok to explain her theory about their relationship. She said: "if you're confused about mine and Caspar's blowing hot and cold this week, I think I have a theory...hopefully the experts will see this and be proud of me."
She continued: "Caspar and I have never been in relationships, [which is] quite rare at our age, so we both have a disorganised attachment style, which means we show and exhibit all three of the different attachment styles; anxious, avoidant and secure."
She went on: "So if we start off with anxious, that's obviously our walls being thrown up when one of us says something out of whack, and love-hate week, the hate part was actually before Charlene came round, and you can kind of see how hate week brought up some negative energy. We kind of then were anxious, like, 'what? What's happening here? Obviously, it's not going to work. Will it work? I don't know'."
