Kerry Katona's bizarre request to fiance Ryan months before split news

Kerry Katona shared insights into her relationship with Ryan Mahoney over the years, including having previously discussed the prospect of expanding her family with him

Reality TV star Kerry Katona made a bizarre request to her fiance Ryan Mahoney months before the split.

After struggling to conceive a sixth child, Kerry said that she'd given Ryan a "pass" to leave her and have a baby with a "younger model."

The remark has resurfaced this week following reports that Kerry, 44, and her fiancé Ryan, 36, have separated after six years together. She appeared to announce a break-up on Instagram in the comments section on a recent post. It showed her visiting her mother Sue Katona in hospital and when one fan asked if her doctor was single, Kerry teased alongside a laughing emoji in a response: "No, but I am!"

The news has led to renewed attention over her relationship with Ryan, which she spoke about on occasion. Kerry, who has five children from past relationships, had discussed whether she would expand her family with him, for example.

Kerry said in February that she would consider surrogacy with Ryan if he wanted a baby together. She however told OK! magazine that being pregnant herself is something she "just couldn't go through again" after a past experience.

She went on to share: "I don't want to deprive him [though] - in fact, I've given him a pass and said 'if this is something you want to pursue, leave me now!' I never want someone to not have that feeling of having their own child."

"Me and my kids should be enough for Ryan, and actually, I know we are," she said. Kerry commented at the time: "I should be more than enough. If I'm not, Ryan can always go off with a younger model and have a baby with her!"

Just months later, Kerry shared in her New! magazine column, as reported by OK! magazine, in August that a doctor had told her she still had ovarian follicles. She wrote: "I was told that I've still got follicles - meaning I could have another baby. I don't think I would have another one, but Ryan keeps changing his mind! If he wants another one then that's fine, but we need to get a move on." She however reiterated that she would "never carry another child," adding: "I would get a surrogate."

Her comments about potentially having a baby with Ryan aren't the only insights into the relationship that have resurfaced this week. She shared earlier this year, for example, that she felt "unsupported" by Ryan after having reconstructive surgery on her nose.

More recently, in a column earlier this month, she said that herself and Ryan had been "arguing like cat and dog". Writing in OK! magazine, Kerry said: "Ryan and I have been arguing like cat and dog [...] We're not in a great place at the moment. I do like to be honest when things are like this, though, because no one is perfect and everyone has their issues."
