At 57, Pamela Anderson looked half her age after going make-up-free to attend the San Sebastian International Film Festival, in Spain.

Promoting her latest film The Last Showgirl, which is believed to have already received huge success among critics, the former Baywatch star cut a demure appearance. Wearing a floor-length floral dress teamed with high heels, her look was a far cry from her younger days, when she wore heavier make-up to achieve her blonde bombshell persona.

Her appearance comes after reports claimed she turned down the opportunity to feature in the upcoming Baywatch documentary. Sources have claimed that while she attributes the show to her meteoric rise to fame, it has been said she's now in a "new chapter of her life."

Last year Pamela caused controversy at the Vivienne Westwood show at Paris Fashion Week, when she spoke about challenging the beauty standards set by Hollywood. Once again, Pamela showed off her make-up-free appearance. She said at the time: "I feel as a woman of my age and a woman in the public eye it's your job to be a model of everything. Just all sorts of choices. SO I am just being me."

She then told Vogue magazine she no longer feels the need to compete with actresses younger than her - and that is the reason she decided to ditch make-up. She said: "Something just kind of came over me and I was dressing in these beautiful clothes and I thought, I don’t want to compete with the clothes. I am not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room. I feel like its just freedom. It’s a release."

In her film, Pamela plays the role of Shelley, who is an experienced dancer at a Las Vegas club, who is cast aside after sacrificing her life and her relationship with her daughter. Speaking at the Q&A at another film festival, she claimed the role was made for her. She explained: "I've been getting ready my whole life for this film. I never felt something so strongly about something [as this film]. It was do it, just be it, and I did it."

And on picking the film star for the role, the director added: "I kind of came across a picture of her. I guess you were promoting your documentary and, there was this sort of gut feeling of "Well, what about her? But, I didn’t know too much about you at that time."

Gia Coppola continued: "And then my other cousin, Matt Shire, was like: 'I know who your Shelly is. It’s Pamela. Watch her documentary.; And, I did, and I was like: "You’re absolutely right. Like, no one else can be her. I have to go find her.'"
