Singer Perrie Edwards and footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's son issued a devastating message as the family battle long distance.

The Little Mix star, 31, shares toddler Axel with the former Liverpool ace and have been together for eight years. However, earlier this year Perrie revealed the couple have never lived together. She said the couple had separate houses for most of their time together, but Alex has since taken a job in Turkey.

Perrie previously said: "When he was playing for Liverpool and based in Manchester, it was so easy to do the back and forth but Turkey is a little bit further and he doesn’t get a lot of time off. Alex now plays for Süper Lig club Beşiktaş, which is based in a district of Istanbul.

The singer has remained in the UK with their son Axel, three. She has opened up on the impact long distance is having on her young family. Speaking to Amanda Holden and Jason King, Perrie stated footballers rarely get time off as Amanda quipped: "Yeah, they even have to play on Boxing Day!"

Perrie responded: "I know! And they train on Christmas day!," however Jason jokingly stated: "They get paid enough for it! Shut up!" Perrie then shared how it affects her as she explained: "That’s what everyone says and I’m like ‘you tell that to my two-year-old who doesn’t know what’s going on! Where’s Daddy?’"

Jason mused: "Well, it’s true and there lies the problem. You know you’ve got a little child at home who doesn’t understand." Perrie added: "So, he’s three now and he knows, so now he’s like ‘I miss Dada’. The second he wakes up he’s like “I miss my Dada” and I’m like “me too, we’ll go to Turkey soon!” He’s goes “yeah lets go on the aeroplane and see Dada.” And every aeroplane in the sky he’s like “Dada! Dada’s on there!” It’s so cute and it just melts my heart."

Speaking previously on the Jonathan Ross show about their living situation, Perrie said: "I'm trying to launch a solo career whilst having a two year old so it is a lot to juggle but we make it work for the ones we love, don't we? We've never lived together anyway - the whole eight years we've been in a relationship; we've never actually lived together."

The couple got engaged in 2022 and have been planning their wedding ever since. They have their plans on lockdown but have not yet set a proper date as they're keen for their toddler Axel to be old enough to understand the festivities. While chatting with an Aussie radio station, she said: "I feel like we've already planned it. In our minds we know, and we talk about it a lot Alex more so than me actually which is really cute because he wants it to pop off.

"He wants a party, a performer, he wants it to be a big thing. I'm like, I know who I want as bridesmaids and this and that. It's all kind of set in stone but we haven't actually planned it yet. There's a lot going on in my life right now, I've got so much. We've said about waiting for Axel to be older and then he can be a pageboy or whatever. It makes more sense."
