Coronation Street double exit 'sealed' as Stu Carpenter star Bill Fellows quits ITV soap
Mason continues to spark controversy in Corrie as Yasmeen Nazir grows increasingly cautious of him. But with Stu Carpenter in his corner, a double exit could be looming.
by Laura Carreno · The MirrorStu Carpenter has taken Mason under his wing - but as the lad continues to face backlash in Coronation Street, could he make a big decision about his own future on the cobbles?
After becoming a regular character in the ITV soap in 2021, the former homeless man has worked hard to put his troubled past behind him and even managed to find work at Speed Daal alongside Yasmeen Nazir (played by Shelley King), who also gave him another chance at love.
And when Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) resurfaced in Weatherfield after terrorising Liam Connor, Stu decided all the lad needed was a firm authority figure he could rely on - though many residents disagree with him.
During this Monday's (September 30, 2024) trip to the cobbles, Stu continued to stand by Mason and even suggested that he could move in with him and Yasmeen at No.6, after finding him sleeping in at Speed Daal early one morning.
But while she has shown her good nature on several occasions, Yasmeen drew the line, reminding Stu that she almost lost her granddaughter Alya Nazir to a knife attack. Despite this, Stu found a way to bring Mason into her home, unbeknownst to other residents, and Yasmeen's resentment was palpable.
With tension evidently in the air, it's easy to speculate that Mason could cause irreparable trouble in Stu's relationship with Yasmeen. Though their romance has remained somewhat steady - aside from the time Yasmeen was convinced Stu was a murderer - their divergent opinions on Mason could be what drives them apart once and for all, particularly as Mason is still susceptible to reverting to his old ways.
As a result, one could suggest that Stu may no longer feel at ease at No.6 or at Speed Daal, and due to his Corrie history being intrinsically linked to his time spent with Yasmeen, he may decide to leave with Mason for a fresh start, unless the lad's family gets involved.
The chef and former jailbird is due for an emotional exit of his own in upcoming Coronation Street scenes after it was revealed that actor Bill Fellows would be leaving the Manchester-based programme after three years as Stu Carpenter and his final scenes have already been filmed.
Taking to Instagram recently, actor Bill, 67, shared a picture of the sweet leaving gift from his co-stars. Bill revealed he had received a portrait of himself signed with sweet messages from the cast. Captioning the post, the actor penned: "Nice parting give with a top-quality bottle of Champagne x". Bill's co-stars were quick to bid an emotional farewell as they commented on the post.
Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy Barlow, wrote: "Going to miss you in work!!" with crying emojis, Mollie Gallagher, who plays Nina Lucas, said: "Gonna miss you" with upset emojis while Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton, added: "We will miss you" with heart emojis. But how will his swan song play out on our screens?
