Gemma Collins' has shared a heartbreaking update on her baby dream.

The former Towie star has been honest about her fertility struggles in the past after having several miscarriages revealing how she was once advised to terminate a pregnancy of an intersex baby. She has now said that she is considering fostering after she was told to terminate a pregnancy in her twenties.

The 43-year-old said that she was advised to terminate the pregnancy as doctors told her the foetus was intersex. Intersex is a term used to describe people with sex characteristics that fall outside of the typical male or female. These characteristics can include variations in chromosomes, genitals, reproductive organs, and secondary sex traits.

Gemma said on the Everything I Know About Me podcast: "Something is not right, they said to me your baby could be a hermaphrodite. You can imagine I had no idea what the word was. I had to look it up. It was a real shock. They advised me you need to have a termination because this baby is not going to be right."

She added: "In a single instant, I learned that I'd been carrying a baby and lost it, meaning that once again I found my longstanding dreams of motherhood shattered into pieces."

The term hermaphrodite is outdated and comes from mythology. It is preferably not used among people who are intersex.

Gemma revealed today that she wants to become a foster carer. During an interview on Good Morning Britain, Gemma explained that her mum was fostered as a child and she would like to do the same thing for a young child.

Speaking in an interview with Good Morning Britain, she appeared with mum Joan, where she revealed: "There's a lot of love I can give. I always make a good dinner!" Gemma's mum was in foster care from birth, and Joan recalled her childhood, insisting she was really "lucky".

National Fostering Group have warned of a caring crisis. The report revealed that 12,500 foster carers are needed and the number of children needing a home has rose by 14% on last year.

Gemma recalled how the family ended up reconnecting with Joan's cousin through Who Do You Think We Are and as a result. She added: "That is the wholesome values that so many people forget in today's society. Rushing around, this urgency culture," before Gemma explained that finding her family has made her feel "complete" and she is hopeful she can help other young people.

Gemma has been open about her desire to become a mum. She is currently a step mum to fiancé Rami Hawash son Tristan.
