Lisa Marie Presley said life as she knew it was "completely over" when her father, Elvis Presley, died unexpectedly at his Graceland estate.

The American singer was only nine when her legendary father passed away at the age of 42. In her posthumous memoir, which was completed by her daughter Riley Keough and published this week, Lisa Marie said she woke up on the afternoon of August 16, 1977, sensing that something was wrong.

While running towards her father's room across the hallway, she saw him face down on the bathroom floor. She recalled in her book: "I ran to him, but somebody grabbed me, pulled me back. They were trying to work on him. I was screaming bloody murder. I knew it was not good."

Lisa Marie recalled she could hear her paternal grandfather "wailing, wailing" and said in the memoir that she would "never get past that sound of him wailing." She added: "I could hear, 'Oh he's gone. He's gone." She continued: "My life as I knew it (was) completely over."

In the book - named "From Here To The Great Unknown" - Lisa Marie also revealed that, even as a young child, she was concerned about her father's health. She wrote: "I was always worried about my dad dying. Sometimes I'd see him and he was out of it. Sometimes I would find him passed out. I wrote a poem with the line, 'I hope my daddy doesn't die.'"

Lisa Marie's daughter has been doing the media rounds to promote the book on behalf of her mum, who died aged 54 on January 12, 2023. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, she said that Lisa Marie's grief was "a very private thing" for her, and said that sometimes she would sit on the floor crying while listening to her father's music.

Riley said: "Her grief was very... I don't think she knew how to process it. It was a very private thing for her. She would listen to his music alone, if she was drunk, and cry... I would walk in her room and she had speakers - because this was back in the day - and she would be sitting on the floor crying and she'd listen to her dad's music."

In the new memoir, Lisa Marie also revealed that she formed an "insanely strong" bond with Michael Jackson during a trip to Las Vegas which meant she fell in love with the King of Pop while she was still married to her ex-husband Danny Keough. She said she grew close to Michael over time after having late night, intimate conversations with him.

She even revealed that the Thriller singer proposed to her in a Las Vegas hotel room before they had even shared their first kiss. The pair first met in Las Vegas when they were kids but reconnected in the 1990s, when Michael professed her love to her.

Lisa Marie was only meant to be in Vegas for two days, but after forming an "insanely strong" connection with Michael, she ended up staying eight days. She said her ex-husband Danny Keough even showed up in Las Vegas trying to find her, but she told him she was just "helping" the singer out.

She revealed that on her last night in Vegas, Michael told her he was in love with her, wanted to marry her and have children together. She wrote in her book: "Michael said, 'I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm completely in love with you. I want us to get married and for you to have my children.' I didn't say anything immediately, but then I said, 'I'm really flattered, I can't even talk.' By then, I felt I was in love with him too."

Lisa Marie said she then flew back to Los Angeles and told Danny the truth about her and Michael, after which her ex packed his bags and left. Lisa Marie, who was 26 at the time, and Michael, then 35, got married in the Dominican Republic on May 26, 1994 - less than three weeks after her divorce to Danny was finalised.

She declared she was "so happy" when they got married and added: "I've never been that happy again." They eventually divorced in 1996 after citing "irreconcilable differences" but remained friends after the divorce.
