Since Meghan and Prince Harry moved across the pond they have occasionally been spotted out and about at high-profile events, from concerts to glitzy restaurants favoured by the A-list. However, for the most part, the couple stays out of the public eye, with a desire to deal with the spotlight only on their own terms one of the major reasons that they left the UK four years ago.

Whenever the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attend a public event, royal fans are thrilled to get a glimpse of them, and they regularly generate a lot of attention. One such occasion - when the couple enjoyed a date night watching the LA Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena in downtown LA - saw the couple filmed on the big screen at the event, with a professional lip reader analysing the words they exchanged.

The couple attended the Lakers game against the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the NBA playoffs in April 2023, shortly after it had been confirmed that Meghan would not be travelling to the UK for King Charles's coronation. Meghan dazzled in a pink linen suit jacket with matching shorts, that she paired with a simple white top.

At one stage the couple were featured on the jumbotron, and encouraged by thousands of fans to kiss, and in another moment they were filmed sharing a moment of conversation, which lip reader Jeremy Freeman believes he has decoded. The lip-reading expert claims that the moment seemed to capture the pair giving their verdict on their night out, "It's brilliant" Meghan appeared to say to Harry before Harry seemed to say "Yeah" and nod his agreement.

Meghan went on to say: "Right it's because it's your favourite there" before the camera went back to filming the sporting action. The couple weren't the only A-list celebrities in attendance that night, with Kim Kardashian, Adam Sandler and Kris Jenner all packed into the stadium with 20,000 other members of the crowd.

The NBA playoffs aren't the only date night Meghan and Harry have publicly enjoyed since moving to California - the pair were also spotted at Beyoncé's first night in LA with her Renaissance tour last September, at SoFi stadium. The couple was joined for the evening of dancing by Doria Ragland, Meghan's mother, and her best friend Abigail Spencer.
