British vet Julian Norton, famed for his role in The Yorkshire Vet, has been a staple of the popular Channel 5 series for all thirteen seasons. The show documents the professional lives of Julian and fellow vet Peter Wright as they care for animals in North Yorkshire.

Born in Castleford, Wakefield, 52 year old Julian studied veterinary medicine at Cambridge University and has spent the majority of his career practicing in Yorkshire. In addition to his television appearances, he's penned six books, including Horses, Heifers and Hairy Pigs: The Life of a Yorkshire Vet in 2016, A Yorkshire Vet Through the Seasons in 2017, and The Diary of a Yorkshire Vet.

Beyond the borders of Yorkshire, Julian serves as an ambassador for the Cheetah Conservation Fund, a group committed to safeguarding wild cheetah populations.

In 2018, both Julian and his co-star Peter left Skeldale Veterinary Centre after three years on The Yorkshire Vet. Julian subsequently established his own independent practice with his wife, Anne, in March 2021, named Thirsk Veterinary Centre. Around this time, Skeldale joined forces with Medivet, a veterinary group that runs over 200 practices across England and Wales. Shortly after this merger, Julian announced his exit, voicing his discontent with the direction the practice was taking, reports Yorkshire Live.

In a candid chat with the Darlington and Stock Times, the vet admitted: "It wasn't the way I wanted the practice to go. I didn't think it offered necessarily the best way forward. It was a difficult decision, it was part of my life, it was a big change."

Penning his thoughts in The Yorkshire Post's Country Week column, he reminisced about Skeldale, affirming he had "thoroughly enjoyed" his tenure there and that he will "always treasure my memories" from his time at the famed veterinary clinic. Julian not only tends to animals at the Sandbeck Veterinary Centre in Wetherby as a partner but also contributes a weekly piece to The Yorkshire Posts Country Week.

When he's not immersed in veterinary science or writing, Julian, married to Anne and father of two boys, Archie and Jack, shows a zest for fitness with some astonishing athletic feats under his belt. In 2010, he smashed into the records by achieving the world record for the 24-hour tandem indoor rowing alongside former Olympic oarsman Roger Brown.

Julian didn't stop there; he made waves in the UK Ironman event, landing in the top 50 back in 2013. Flying the flag for Britain, he competed at age-group level in the European Long Course Duathlon Championships consecutively in 2014 and 2015 and showcased his prowess at the European Middle Distance Triathlon championships during the same years.

His adventurous spirit took him to the snowy peaks as well he conquered the gruelling Patrouille des Glaciers ski mountaineering race that stretches from Zermatt to Verbier in 2018.
