A huge Brit pop star is in talks to headline Glastonbury for the first time in eight years, it has been reported.

Ed Sheeran last headlined at the iconic festival back in 2017 but it has been rumoured that the A Team singer could be returning to the Pyramid Stage in 2025.

It has been said that the star has been approached by organisers who are keep to get him to perform at Worthy Farm next year. It's suggested that Ed could headline the festival on the Friday night of the weekend before jetting back off to continue his European tour in Germany on the following two evenings.

A source told The Sun: "Ed adores performing at Glastonbury and getting to sing to so many fans on a massive scale. He hasn’t got any big UK gigs lined up next summer, so this would be really special. He’s got loads of celebrity friends, so he is bound to have some famous collabs on stage with him if it comes off."

Glastonbury Festival is due to take a fallow year in 2026 to give the grounds a break. Speaking previously to the Glastonbury Free Press Emily Eavis said: "We’re taking a fallow year in 2026 to give the land a rest. And the festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan because you almost have to fit two years into one."

The rumours come as Ed expressed his deep appreciation for the widespread reach of his music, as he celebrated the achievement of his debut single 'The A Team' surpassing one billion streams. The singer was thrilled that his songs have reached so many, each person connecting with "different memories and emotions" through his music.

In a celebration with Spotify for their 'Billions Club: The Series', Ed gave a personal tour of his beloved Suffolk spots. Reflecting on his career while eating fish and chip, he said: "This is what England's about. This is my go-to meal on a Friday. Seeing [the plaques] all laid out is pretty mad because it's been 15 years of work."

He talked about the significance of music, saying" "Everyone uses music for different things and everyone has different memories and emotions connected to songs." He added, "I'm really grateful that my music has travelled so far and I get to sit here and eat fish and chips out of them." Ed then went on to talk about what it was like growing up in Suffolk, he shared: "I loved growing up in Suffolk as a kid. You just sort of run wild."
