Fans of BBC Doctors have ‘worked out’ how the soap is going to end - and it’s not looking good.

The series, about the doctors and staff at a busy Midlands GP practice, launched in 2000. And for 24 years, it has been a staple on screens and a firm favourite with fans.

But last year, it was confirmed that the Beeb had axed the beloved soap - with its final episode airing in December 2024. According to bosses they put the blame on the show’s “increased expenses”.

Earlier this month, the BBC also revealed Doctor’s final ever episode date. Despite wrapping up filming months ago, fans were led to believe that Doctors would carry on until the end of the year. However, its final episode will air on Thursday, November 14.

The beloved sitcom is coming to an end

And it seems the soap could be wrapping up in a rather heartbreaking way. As fans will recall, over in the soap recently, the beloved Mill Health Centre has undergone a few changes.

Newcomer and soap bad guy Dr Graham Elton (Alex Avery) arrived on screens earlier this year and was introduced as a potential new partner for the Mill Health Centre. However, it’s fair to say he has ruffled plenty of feathers so far.

Not only did he persuade receptionist Kirsty Millar (Kiruna Stamell) to get a job elsewhere, he has come to blows with fan-favorite and nurse Luca McIntyre (Ross McLaren).

Newcomer Graham has caused plenty of drama

A bigot and homophone, Graham has made snide remarks about Luca, regarding his viewers on sexuality and gender. And last week, things took a dramatic turn when Graham riled up Luca so much that Luca punched him.

Graham quickly used this to his advantage, and demanded boss Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh) to fire Luca, or he would consider not becoming a partner, meaning The Mill would shut down.

Fans reckon the practice will get shut down

Now, with just a few weeks ago until the soap’s final ever episode, fans are certain it will end in a heartbreaking way. Sharing their thoughts online, viewers reckon the soap will wrap up by the beloved Mill Health Centre shutting down.

On the BBC Doctors Facebook fan page, one person mused: “I'm sure Graham be the catalyst that brings down The Mill and a way to end the programme.”

The soap has been on air for decades

A second fan wrote: “What will be the final straw that closes the Mill? It could be Graham causing a collapse?” Someone else mused: “Will Graham's homophobia have the Mill closed down? Just a few weeks to go now.”

A fourth chimed in: “The Mill Health Centre is going to be shut down to finish the series once and for all. End of an era!” A fifth viewer also penned: “Would be sad if Doctors finished with that awful Graham winning and manipulating everybody. I’ll be devastated. Get rid of him and finish on a high.”
