BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Jamie Borthwick incredible post-show plans - away from EastEnders
EastEnders actor and Strictly Come Dancing's Jamie Borthwick has already sorted his next move after the show finishes and it involves time away from the BBC soap
by Beth Hardie · The MirrorStrictly’s Jamie Borthwick has some exciting times ahead after revealing that ‘nothing is ever simple’ with his role as Jay in EastEnders.
Strictly Come Dancing's Jamie Borthwick quickly became a fan and judge favourite on the BBC talent show thanks to his undeniable talent for ballroom dancing. Partnered with professional dancer Michelle Tsiakkas, the pair have regularly scored high on the Leaderboard and are tipped to make it to the final.
As well as the gruelling training for Strictly each week, 30 year old actor Jamie, who won the Christmas special of the talent show last year with Nancy Xu, is still grafting away at his other job as Jay Brown in EastEnders. He revealed at the start of the series that he had no plans to stop filming the BBC soap. "I'm not taking a break. I'm still there, so I'm doing both shows," he said. "But we're lucky [that] EastEnders [is] literally just over the road. I [don't have] far to go."
Despite his dedicated work ethic Jamie does have some exciting plans in the pipeline once the Glitterball Trophy has been lifted by the eventual winners. Talking to the Daily Star at the Pride of Britain Awards earlier this week, Michelle divulged their joint adventure that is afoot and which will mean Jamie stepping away from EastEnders for a time.

The dancing duo also opened up on rumours they have been struck by the Strictly curse and that single Jamie has fallen for his partner. "When you're with someone eight hours a day you just naturally build a rapport and you just learn about each other," he said. "They tried to do the romance thing with us but I very firmly put it to bed. She is like my sister, it would be very weird ."
Michelle backed him and added: "We do have amazing chemistry but he's like my brother. Chemistry is something you have or you don't. You either find it really easy to talk and be around someone or you don't. I'm very straight with him, he's straight with me."
Quizzed on whether his weekly appearances on the show had attracted more female attention, Jamie was quick to deny it. However, Michelle quickly interjected, stating: "He's lying..." Jamie then clarified: "No, honestly not really, I can't believe it either, I get some messages but I don't really read them."
