Lynsey Crombie, also known as the 'queen of clean', understands it can be tough to motivate yourself to clean your home - but she's hoping to give people everywhere the boost to use eco-friendly products, and make where you live sparkle.

She wants to help "transform your autumn cleaning routine with these simple, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious ideas for a fresher, greener home".

With some of her tips, you can also ensure you're being as budget-friendly as possible, which is ideal as we move into the colder months. Lynsey regularly shares her tips on TikTok, but shared some tips with Mirror.

First, Lynsey recommended you "use your handheld steam cleaner or hair dryer to blast away trapped dust from behind your radiators". She added: "Pop some newspaper or an old towel on the floor to capture the built-up dust and debris. This trick not only helps keep your home clean but also makes sure your radiator heats your room efficiently keeping those energy bills down."

If you're using "harsh" floor cleaners, it's time to ditch them, and opt for something more eco-friendly. Lynsey explained: "Ditch harsh floor cleaners and instead grab a steam cleaner to remove ground-in dirt and grim from your hard floors, kill bacteria and give them a wonderful shine."

If your lightbulbs are in need of a clean, she said: "Dust your light bulbs by using a recycled makeup or paint brush, over the summer months you don’t use your lamps as much and you will find a layer of fine dust so knock this off with your brush, and you’ll instantly notice your rooms shining a little brighter."

Be honest - when was the last time you cleaned your mattress or flipped it? Lynsey recommended you "turn or flip your mattress and spot clean any stains with white shaving foam". Giving a reason, she added: "This is a great non-toxic inexpensive cleaner that can remove stains with ease, when dry, don’t forget to add your mattress protector and switch to your warmer duvet."

She also gave a tip for cleaning your headboard and said: "If you want to refresh your headboard on your bed, a solution of warm soapy water works best, use a microfibre cloth and work up and down in strips so you cover the whole area and allow to fully air dry."

If you're in need of an all-purpose spray, you should try making "your own citrus all-purpose cleaning spray". She continued: "This is so easy to make and smells wonderful.

"Use left-over lemon and orange peel, pop them in a jar of half water and half white vinegar and let it sit for a few weeks, remove the peels, pop them into a spray bottle with a few drops of cinnamon essential oil for a lovely autumnal smell."

Are you craving that quintessentially autumnal smell and need it to run throughout your home? Lynsey concluded: "Simmer a pan of water, adding cinnamon sticks, orange peel and cloves. Leave the scent to fill the air before a dinner party and then once cooled add it to a spray bottle and use it as an air freshener during the daytime."
