Mariah Carey was a shining star as she led the stars attending the 50th anniversary of the American Music Awards.

The likes of Jennifer Hudson, Kate Hudson, Raye and more were at the lavish event. Known for her incredible voice, Mariah blessed the red carpet in a gorgeous strapless ivory satin gown from Schiaparelli. The Fantasy singer accessorised with a statement necklace and a few silver bracelets.

Mariah, who won 10 awards at the AMAs, also took to the stage to sing songs from her 10th album, The Emancipation of Mimi, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. She belted out We Belong Together, adding “love you” to the audience to close out her iconic performance.

British icon Raye were among the performers on Sunday night, with the Genesis singer performing James Brown's It's a Man's Man's Man's World. After singing 'but it wouldn’t be nothing without a woman', Raye added her own twist: "And I think it’s really important to remember that, just saying", before finishing the lyric "or a girl".

The Get Right singer said: "It's pretty incredible, right? Fifty years of the American Music Awards. I remember watching them at home when I was a little girl."

She added that she made her debut in 2001, recalling: "It was so long ago - but the energy in the room was very electric." Meanwhile, Kate Hudson rocked a tufted green gown that confused fans on social media. Her hair was sliced back and she accessorised with a few bangles and rings.

The same night, Whitney gave perhaps the most iconic performance ever on this show, the stunning medley she sang that night starting with songs from Porgy And Bess and ending with a hit from the global smash soundtrack of The Bodyguard.

“What a remarkable moment in the history of American Music Awards and in the life of the late Whitney Houston.” Other stars at the event included Jordyn Woods, Gladys Knight, Lance Bass, Cedric the Entertainer, Nile Rodgers and Chaka Khan. The programme had many musical moments including a medley from Nelly, Chingy, J-Kwon and St Lunatics.
