Noel and Liam Gallagher 'won’t be paid for Oasis tour until it's complete' amid cancellation fears
Liam and Noel Gallagher famously have a difficult relationship - with their explosive fall out in 2009 causing the band to split. They plan to hit the road in 2025 for an epic world tour.
by Seamus Duff · The MirrorLiam and Noel Gallagher won't receive a penny for their 2025 Oasis reunion tour until the dates are complete and they have performed together - a report has claimed.
The brothers famously fell out in 2009 - exploding at each other on stage and vowing never to perform together again. Fans were surprised, therefore, when brothers Liam, 52, and Noel, 57, revealed earlier this year that they had buried the hatchet and agreed to get the band back together for a lucrative 2025 world tour.
Back in August, the brothers unveiled plans for the Oasis Live '25 Tour - which is due to kick off in Cardiff, Wales, on 4 July next year and will keep the lads on the road until the climax is reached in Sydney, Australia, on 8 November 2025. The brothers will take in 33 dates across the five months of the tour - with support on the road coming from singer Richard Ashcroft and the bands Cast, and Cage the Elephant.
Reports have predicted that the highly anticipated tour will generate around £400 million for the band - but now it is being claimed that Liam and Noel won't receive a penny until they are proved true to their word and get through all the dates without pulling out. It is suggested there are fears the brothers might not make it through the full set without some kind of explosive argument.
A source told The Sun: “There were no upfront earnings because, ultimately, if they fall out, it would leave everyone in limbo. It’s a common arrangement but because of Noel and Liam’s fiery relationship it seems even more necessary.
“They have to perform to be paid. It’s simple and hopefully an effective way to make sure they can tolerate each other for the length of the shows.” The Mirror has approached representatives of Liam, Noel and Oasis for comment.
Last month it was reported that 'military' plans were being put in place to keep Liam and Noel as far apart as practically possible to increase the hope that the 2025 tour will go smoothly. A source told the Mirror: "Noel and Liam are returning and reuniting, but don’t for one minute think that this is a tour about complete brotherly love and going out night after night and being together 24/7 like the old days.
“They will not be in each other’s pockets and effectively be separate entities that come together for necessary promotional work and the gigs. Other than that they will be apart for much of this reunion.” Described as a “military operation”, the brothers will have separate dressing rooms and prep areas as well as their own travel itineraries, says the insider. It’s said the reason for the distance is to minimise any chance of the brothers locking horns again. “Any fallout would be a PR and financial nightmare,” the source added. “Rehearsals will be the first time that they will be together for a significant amount of time working again. The atmosphere is sure to be electric, but also a little edgy.”
