Cast Away is coming to Channel 5 soon and it has already sent shockwaves across the nation after it was revealed Phillip Schofield would be making his TV comeback on the show. The former This Morning presenter is part of the lineup for the three-episode series.

The show sees a celebrity stranded on a desert island off the coast of Madagascar for 10 days. They will be left alone to document their own experience using a variety of cameras.

The synopsis continues: "The famous face has to confront the challenges of total isolation, the forces of nature, and the battle within their own mind." It appears the series was named after the famous survival drama film starring Tom Hanks.

The film sees one man harness every skill he knows to survive the mental and physical agony of living alone. The three episodes will air consecutively across three days - Monday, September 30, Tuesday, October 1 and Wednesday, October 2.

Each episode starts at 9pm and is an hour long, concluding at 10pm. Here's everything else you need to know.

The 62-year-old hasn't been seen on screens since May 2023 after he admitted to having had an "unwise but not illegal affair" with a younger colleague.

However, he made a return to social media earlier this year, leading people to believe he would make a gradual comeback to the public eye.

The Mirror shared: "In the programme, viewers will see a dishevelled Schofield stranded on a tropical island for 10 days.

"During the programme, Phillip will discuss the past two years in detail. Stranded in Madagascar, Phillip will film himself as he fends for himself while also reflecting on the turmoil of the scandal he was at the centre of."

Speaking about his new role, a source told The Sun: "Over the past few months Phil has had quite a few offers for various things - but has steadfastly turned them all down.

"This sort of challenge has always appealed to him though and after consulting with friends and family, he decided to go for it.

"It's all been top secret, and has been an incredibly quick turnaround in order to keep the news quiet."

They added: "With 10 days to himself, no camera crews or production around, he shot some unbelievably raw footage - some of it makes for tough, emotional viewing.

"But he wanted a chance to share his story, unedited and honest, and let viewers see another side to him."

In the trailer, Phillip is seen wandering across a deserted beach wearing a white shirt, beige shorts and a hat. Captions along the video read: "One celebrity. On a desert island. Totally alone. With one chance to finally tell his story."
