The TOWIE star, 36, is one of the celebrities competing in Strictly Come Dancing with his dancing partner Jowita Przystal and the pair have sparked romance rumours, with many BBC One viewers believing they could have secretly embarked on a relationship.

But while many theorise Pete Wicks may have found love, his romantic past has often been scrutinised due to his many failed relationships. However, the lothario once revealed that his father walking out on him as a child resulted in him sabotaging his own love life.

The hunk made the revelation in 2019, when he starred in E4's Celebs Go Dating, as he discussed his former romance with Megan McKenna by messaging multiple other women. At the time, Pete chatted to dating experts Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson. "We think we know Pete as the man but in order to know Pete as the man, we need to know Pete as the boy. So tell us about Pete as the boy", Paul first said, inviting him to open up.

"I looked up to my dad when I was a kid. Then my mum and dad divorced when I was about 11. My dad sort of disappeared and it was my mum and me." And when Anna asked him how he thought it affected him, he continued: "Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger and it made me half the person that I am now really. I had to be the man."

Pete then admitted that by becoming a man, he needed to "make a lot of mistakes and work out by your mistakes, what the right thing to do is." He lamented: "And I've made an awful lot of mistakes in my life. What it probably has done is to make it harder for me when it comes to relationships."

He then delved into detail about his relationship with Megan McKenna, whom he dated from 2016 to 2017: "It was Megan, Megan was my first relationship and about three, four months of us being together, I made a few mistakes. I was messaging other women. If I'm starting to get feelings for people, it makes me feel vulnerable."

In more recent news, Pete appeared alongside Jowita on the set of ITV's Loose Women as the pair spoke about their bond - and they have both agreed to have matching tattoos.

Janet Street-Porter launched the discussion this Thursday by saying: "Is it true that you two are going to get matching tattoos if you win?" Pete replied: "Obviously, I have got a fair few tattoos so if we win then we are going to get a couple of glitterballs." In response, Janet probed: "Pete, where will you put it?"
