Giovanni Pernice has assured fans that he's doing well after his departure from Strictly Come Dancing as he took to Instagram to update his followers.

Strolling through Rome's sunny streets, the 34-year-old professional dancer addressed fans' concerns in a video. He said: "Hello everyone, just a quick update with life in Rome. This week is the week of the first live show, which is very exciting."

Reading messages from supportive fans over the weekend, he expressed gratitude saying: "I did read all your messages at the weekend and I'm very grateful to all of you. Here it is going very well. I received a lot of messages as well saying 'Giovanni, why did you leave the UK?'"

Giovanni then corrected any misconceptions about him leaving Britain for good and said he will be back for his dance class on Sunday. He set the record straight, saying: "I haven't left the UK at all. In actual fact, I'm back on Sunday for the dance class and obviously, there's dance classes in October, November, and December as well, and then back on tour in January until July."

He also mentioned feeling excited about his current project, saying: "But, for now, very excited for Ballando con le Stelle. The dance is going very very well." Wrapping up the clip, Gio sent his affection to fans: "Sending lots of love, I love you all."

His post garnered attention from his substantial Instagram following, with many sharing their support and noting his absence from this year's line-up of professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing, reported the Express. Fans have been vocal about their feelings since Giovanni left Strictly.

One fan said: "Miss you so much on Strictly ... not the same without you! ! But good luck in Rome!" Another shared their disappointment, saying: "I couldn't even watch Strictly as you weren't there. Good luck. You're passionate about what you do."

A third chimed in with support: "Missing you on UK TV, stay strong." Another added to the chorus of fans missing the dancer: "You are so very much missed. Strictly without you is very dull." And someone else said: "Good luck with your next adventure. We miss you x"

Giovanni is now dazzling audiences on Italy's Ballando con le Stelle, dancing alongside Bianca Guaccero. The format mirrors that of Strictly, teaming up celebs with pro dancers annually. His exit from the UK show came after his last celebrity partner, Amanda Abbington, raised issues about his conduct during rehearsals. This led the BBC to launch an inquiry into the allegations made against him while he was part of Strictly.
