BBC Strictly Come Dancing's JB Gill supported by 'gutted' wife after going 'missing' from ballroom

JB Gill's wife has shared her reaction to her husband landing in Strictly Come Dancing's latest dreaded dance-off over the weekend. The JLS star and his dance partner Amy Dowden had to fight for their place in the competition following the public vote.

The pair opened Saturday night's (October 19) live show for the firs time with their energetic jive routine to Outkast’s Hey Ya! which was awarded 30 points out of a possible 40 from all four judges.

Despite the solid score, following the public vote, JB and Amy found themselves under the red light of doom as they were left in the bottom two alongside former footballer Paul Merson and his pro dance partner Karen Hauer.

Both couples performed their routines again, with JB and Amy going first with their jive before Paul and his partner Karen performed their Samba to Car Wash by Rose Royce before the judges all favoured to save JB and Amy, automatically sending Paul and Karen home.

Following the results show, which aired on Sunday night (October 20), JB reflected on the weekend and alongside a picture of him looking disheartened while embracing his in-laws in the ballroom, as well as photos of him and Amy in action during their latest routine, wrote on Instagram: "What a week it’s been [face holding back tears emoji]. This week has been a real rollercoaster of emotions which ended up with @amy_dowden and I in the bottom two of @bbcstrictly this weekend.

"I poured my heart and soul into the dancing this week - as I do every week and I loved every single minute of this routine, from the dance style, to the concept, to the outfits - I felt like I’d done everything I could and then to know that I was going up against @paulmerseofficial in the dance off was heartbreaking!

"Paul and I have children a similar age, we’ve stood on the sidelines of the football pitch together and now shared a dance floor together! You smashed your time on the show Paul and I’m sad to see you leave the competition but of course I’m excited that Amy and I get to dance again next week."

He added: "And thank you so much to my family who are ALWAYS in my corner, supporting from near and far and coming to the show week in, week out, to be there for me. You always have my back and everything I do is for you. One thing is for sure, I’ll keep fighting and keep working hard and keep dancing with my whole heart. Week 6 here we come!"

But someone who was missing over the weekend was JB's wife Chloe. The dancer has been in the live studio audience every weekend so far but on Saturday, she was absent as she headed to Paris with their two children where their son Ace, who is a promising young footballer, was taking part in a football tournement.

Taking to Instagram, Chloe addressed her husband being in the dance-off and said: "Now to the downside of the weekend! I was on edge ALL week because I didn’t want to make the decision whether to go to Paris and watch Ace or stay at home to watch @jbgill at Strictly.

"Last minute, I chose to go to Pairs to watch Ace but in the back of my mind I was leaving @jbgill and felt like I wasn’t supporting him. I felt awful, I thought I’d let him down but I’d made my decision so I stuck with it. And then what happened, course he was in the dance off! Not only was he in the bottom two but he was up against our friend @paulmerseofficial ! I was gutted. I wasn’t there for him and wished I could have torn myself in two. This show is a rollercoaster of emotions and I take my hat off to everyone involved."

She continued: "Thank you to my parents, our manager and friends who were there to support him this week. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there and I’m SO glad you got through so I get to watch you dance again for another week!
Still not over @paulmerseofficial going home because he really did improve SO much on the show and I wish he could have shown us more.

"@jbgill I’m continue to be proud of you, well done for another week. Your work ethic in all you do is amazing, you put 100% into EVERYTHING and we love you! Keep bringing your infectious smile to our televisions on a Saturday night and let’s GO week 6!#thegills #bbcstrictly #teamJAmy."
