Oasis issue statement on dynamic ticket prices after new tour dates announced

by · Manchester Evening News

So-called 'dynamic pricing' won't be used during the sale of tickets for Oasis North American tour it has been confirmed.

The Manchester band today announced five stadium shows in Canada, the US and Mexico next August and September. They are already playing 19 nights in the UK and Ireland, including five nights at Heaton Park which sold-out a matter of hours after going on sale at the start of this month.

However, there was outrage from many of the millions of fans who joined the scramble for tickets. After spending hours in the virtual queue, many consumers saw prices skyrocket from £148 pounds to £355 and reported having no option but to purchase "in demand" tickets.

The band made clear they had no knowledge the model was being used, investigations into which have since been launched by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and Ireland's Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) following a raft of complaints. The band announced two extra dates at Wembley as a "“as a small step towards making amends for the situation."

After the confirmation of the North American dates this morning, the band have now made clear the model won't be used again "to avoid a repeat of the issues fans in the UK and Ireland experienced recently."

A statement issued on the band's social media channels, attributed to their management, said: "Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing model will not be applied to the forthcoming sale of tickets to Oasis concerts in North America.

"It is widely accepted that dynamic pricing remains a useful tool to combat ticket touting and keep prices for a significant proportion of fans lower than the market rate and thus more affordable.

"But, when unprecedented ticket demand (where the entire tour could be sold many times over at the moment tickets go on sale) is combined with technology that cannot cope with that demand, it becomes less effective and can lead to an unacceptable experience for fans.

"We have made this decision for the North America tour to hopefully avoid a repeat of the issues fans in the UK and Ireland experienced recently."

Confirming the new tour news this morning, they said: "Following the announcement that was felt around the world, the global cultural phenomenon continues with Oasis’ return. Today the band announce the North American dates of their OASIS LIVE ’25 world tour.

"The North American leg, produced by Live Nation and SJM, will see Oasis play stadiums in Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Los Angeles and Mexico City next summer with Cage The Elephant as the special guest across all dates."

The new dates announced are stadium gigs in Toronto on August 24, Chicago on August 28, New Jersey on August 31, LA on September 6 and Mexico City on September 12.
