Coldplay fans fume 'not again Ticketmaster' as UK tour dates go on sale

by · Manchester Evening News

Coldplay fans were venting their frustration at ticket site Ticketmaster after struggling to join the huge queues for online sales of the band's big UK gigs in 2025. Many complained they were being asked to "authenticate accounts" but not getting codes through to do so, while others received error messages asking them to "check their internet connection".

Tickets went on general sale at 9am on Friday for the band's eagerly anticipated UK shows for 2025 at Hull's Craven Park and London's Wembley Stadium. Fans are normally able to join an online queue on Ticketmaster just before the on sale time.

But scores of fans reported seeing error messages on the Ticketmaster App saying: "Something went wrong. Check your internet connection and try again later".

Many more vented their anger at Ticketmaster that they were told they needed to authenticate their account with a code - that wasn't then immediately appearing in their email inboxes. It meant many missed out on the chance to join the queue.

Claire Bryant wrote on X: "Not again Ticketmaster, tried to log in for 8:30 only to be met with “change your password first” then “authenticate your account” and now I’m still waiting for a code that hasn’t come through and therefore I can’t join the waiting room!"

Niamh Amelia wrote on X: "ticketmaster saying I need a code to verify my account and then just not sending the code??? make it make SENSE #coldplay".

Another fan reported that she only received her verification code to get into Ticketmaster "30 minutes after the on-sale, so what's the point of event trying at that point?"

Just TWO MINUTES after the general sale started, fans were then stunned to see a message on Ticketmaster saying that "There is extremely limited availability across all ticket options for this date."

It appeared to relate to all shows in the UK next year - two at Hull's Craven Park and six at Wembley Stadium in August 2025.

It went on to say "The best availability is for Enhanced Experiences." There were no further details on what "Enhanced experiences" are or how much they cost.

A pre-sale was held on Thursday morning, but it is thought only a limited amount of tickets were available on that date. But it led fans to question how so few tickets appeared to be left for the general sale at 9.02am on the Friday.

Lauren Bramley said: "What a waste of everyone’s time trying to get tickets today when the majority of tickets already went to people on pre-sale. Getting tickets nowadays it’s such a dismal experience."

By 9.20am the queue for tickets was numbered at a massive 217,899 and fans were swiftly losing hope. Although no announcement has yet been made on if the shows have sold out.

We have asked Ticketmaster for a comment on the issues this morning.

Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour is scheduled to end in the UK on August 31, at Wembley Stadium in London. The stage show has been ongoing since 2022 and has been performed in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia to name a few.
