Co-op Live makes big announcement about rescheduled Olivia Rodrigo Manchester shows

by · Manchester Evening News

It’s been a long wait for Olivia Rodrigo fans looking to see the singer live on tour in Manchester.

Last year, the US singer, known for hits like Vampire and Driver’s Licence, had originally announced two big shows here set to take place at Co-op Live on May 3 and 4 as part of her GUTS World Tour.

But, with the venue’s opening week being delayed due to technical issues, the two shows were postponed with just 48 hours notice and there has been no sign of new rescheduled dates - until now, that is.

At the time of the postponement, Olivia said she was ‘sooooo disappointed’ to make the decision and her team were ‘doing out best to reschedule the show’. A short while later, Co-op Live's boss Tim Leiweke said it was up to the singer and her team to decide when they could return.

In the five months since the shows had been due to take place, fans have been pleading with the singer - either through TikTok songs, or even direct attempts - for news on when she would finally take to the stage in Manchester.

Co-op Live bosses have now issued an update into the situation telling fans that big news is coming next week. In a post on X, the £350m Eastlands music venue wrote: “Rescheduled dates for Olivia Rodrigo’s 2 previously postponed Manchester shows will be announced next week. Stay tuned!”

The news was met with excitement from the many fans who have been holding onto their originally booked tickets waiting for a new date. One said: “BIG NEWS FOR US." Another said: "Finally", whilst another wrote: "THANK YOU LORD."

However, there were also some who criticised how long it has taken for the new dates to be revealed. One person posted: “Unbelievable. Should of been rearranged ages ago." Another replied: "Only took you 5 months hunny xx." One other person posted: "Absolute nonsense! This should have been sorted months ago!"

There have also been fans who have since claimed refunds on their original tickets thinking that the shows may not have been rescheduled altogether. Sharing their frustration with a series of crying face emojis, one said: “I’ve literally just got a refund.”

One asked: "what about those of us that refunded the tickets is there a way we can get them again?" Another said: "Oh great, got a refund thinking it was never going to happen" One other person wrote: “great after i refunded my tickets after hearing **** all from you.”

Since May, Olivia has been performing the huge world tour across Europe, as well as in the United States, Canada and Asia. On Wednesday (October 9), she will kick off the Australian leg of the tour, which will see her play a total of eight shows across Melbourne and Sydney.
