BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec mistaken for famous TV duo

by · Manchester Evening News

Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec have left fans doing a double take after they were mistaken for a famous former TV duo as they appeared ready for Strictly Come Dancing's Movie Week.

The latest live show of the BBC One dance contest, which was the annual Movie Week special, once again saw former Love Island star Tasha topping the leaderboard scoring 34 out of 40.

The 26-year-old performed a “moving” rumba with professional partner Aljaz, who has returned to the hit show after a two-year hiatus - to What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish from the Barbie movie.

Head judge Shirley Ballas, who was dressed as Mary Poppins, told the pair she had just come back from judging the Royal Albert Hall World Championships, and said "there were some people who didn’t do it as good as that".

She told Tasha: "You’ve only had about four days to do this, probably never danced a rumba or seen a rumba a day in your life. I found it really quite moving. The sensitivity in the upper half of the body, the co-ordination, elbows, wrists, hands and so on, the beauty between the two of you.

"I thought the lower half, these swivels and everything for four days, were absolutely off the chart. Your fluidity, for me, was beautiful. I’ve just come back from judging the Royal Albert Hall world championships, and there were some people who didn’t do it as good as that."

It's since been revealed that Tasha and Aljaz have made it through to week four of Strictly 2024 and alongside a string of picture from their latest exposing performance in the ballroom, Tasha said: "THANK YOU THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart thank you soooo much for your votes, support and messages ahhhh!!

"We get to dance another week!!! Thank you Aljaz for being the best Ken and I know I was so nervous to dance this rumba but as soon as we started dancing slowly the nerves faded away! I cannot wait for week 4! Get me in the rehearsal studio and the dancing shoes on woooop @bbcstrictly #strictly @aljazskorjanec."

But it came after Tasha and Aljaz were seen taking part in a social media trend in which those being filmed say they're being chased by the police until one comment stops them in their tracks. The dancing duo, in their matching pink outfits and blonde locks, were seen running towards a door behind the scenes at Elstree Studio alongside a message which read: "When we're being chased by the police and they say 'suspects are Barbie and Ken'.

Alongside the post, Tasha wrote: "Barbie and Ken!! Movie week completed @bbcstrictly. Thank you all so much for the love and support! This rumba was beautiful and felt so lucky to dance it! Little me always loved Barbie but there never was a Barbie with a cochlear implant, tonight I got to be Barbie but with a glitter pink CI, what a dream. Going to miss being barbie..."

But it appears fans had to look twice at who they were watching in the tongue-in-cheek video. @mistydaviesxo said: "I thought this was Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield for a sec. Slayed though." @kgmetals_ashfordkent replied: "Thought exactly the same." @lozxmuz echoed: "Came here to comment this."

@haych0202 commented: "I thought it was Philip Schofield for a minute then."@susie_medland posted: "Oh my god all I can see is Philip Scofield." @adammcc1208 added: "It’s giving more Philip and Holly vibes to be honest haha."
