Netflix viewers demand show is 'brought back immediately' after plug pulled on season 3

Netflix enthusiasts are pleading for the return of a specific crime drama series that was discontinued after just two seasons.

Fans of Netflix are eager to see a psychological crime thriller, based on a real-life crime book, make a comeback. Mindhunter, the series in question, was adapted from the 1995 book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit.

The show first aired in 2017 but was only produced for two seasons before it was discontinued. David Fincher, one of the main executive producers, put the potential for a third season on indefinite hold in January 2020 as he wanted to focus on other projects.

At that time, there was speculation that the series might be revisited in the future. However, in February 2023, Fincher confirmed that the series had officially ended.

A representative from Netflix told TV Line in 2020: "David is focused on directing his first Netflix film Mank and on producing the second season of Love, Death and Robots."

Mindhunter ended after just two seasons

"He may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn't fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own."

Fincher confessed that the show was costly to produce and the viewership didn't necessarily justify the expense.

In 2023, he told Forbes: "I'm very proud of the first two seasons. But it's a very expensive show and, in the eyes of Netflix, we didn't attract enough of an audience to justify such an investment."

Since then, viewers have expressed their opinions on the possibility of the show being revived.

In response to a Vine Facebook post enquiring which shows audiences are eager to see revived, Paula Antoszak voiced her opinion, stating: "Mindhunter. I don't care it's Netflix. It deserves to be continued."

The sentiment was echoed by Vince Lopez, who added: "Was looking for someone to name this and glad it was mentioned, by far a cliffhanger I can't resist wanting more of."

Furthermore, Mike Scanlan expressed his acclaim, saying: "Beat me to it, best two seasons of a show ever."

Holden Ford was played by Jonathan Groff

The approval continued as Timko's Tavern put forward their thoughts: "Just rewatched the first two seasons again. Was really looking forward to season three with BTK."

Jade Amber was among those in agreement, commenting: "Fully agree it was absolutely excellent! " Similarly, Shawzie Lunsford contributed: "That show was so good! "

Mindhunter captivated viewers by following FBI agents Holden Ford (played by Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), along with psychologist Wendy Carr (Anna Torv), as they worked within the Behavioral Science Unit at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, undertaking a groundbreaking project to interview incarcerated serial killers to comprehend their mindset and apply this understanding to tackle active cases.
