BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Johannes Radebe suffers 'horrendous feeling' as he admits being 'obsessed'

by · Manchester Evening News

Johanne Radebe has opened up about the 'horrendous feeling' of being in the dance-off as he admitted to being 'obsessed' with his Strictly Come Dancing co-star.

The dancer and his celebrity dance partner Montell Douglas were seen embracing the show's first-ever 'Icons Week' over the weekend alongside their fellow couples in which they performed to a song by a legendary singer or band.

Olympian and Gladiators star Montell and her professional dance partner Johannes scored 35 out of a possible 40 for their waltz to I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston.

But it was on Sunday night (November 3) during the latest results show that Montell and Johannes had to fight for their place in the competition when they landed in the bottom-two alongside Olympic hockey star Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin.

After reperforming their routines from the live show, all four judges - Craig, Shirley, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke - all agreed unanimously to save Montell and Johannes meaning they are now through to week eight of the BBC One dance contest.

Reacting to the news of being in the dreaded dance-off for the first time this series, Johannes shared alongside photos of himself and Montell performing this weekend: "Being in the dance off is pretty awful when you suddenly realize the fun time dancing and laughing might be cut short with your new beautiful friend, who you've become obsessed with...it's a horrendous feeling.

"A job well done by @samquek13 and @nikita__kuzmin, I think you guys were amazing.
@montytrackstar darling I hope you heard what the gorgeous @motsimabuse said to you "...you take it seriously, you give it love and passion and you're respectful..."

"No truer words have been said. You've been consistent and it's been a joy dancing and watching you grow. Keep going my dear because you're on the right track." He added: "Grateful for another week good people."

And his fans and followers were quick to respond. @drea70s said: "There's absolutely NO way you guys should be there...reminder for us to vote." @tiaandcolin commented: "Unbelievable that you were THIRD on the leaderboard, yet in the dance off. Just shows, people need to VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! Don't be complacent people!"

@oliviacoon wrote: "You both should never have been in the bottom two! You are my favourites to win! Come back next week fighting and bring that fire! #teammojo." @cazcaley added: "You should never have been in the dance off thought your waltz was so beautiful, love your partnership."

It came as Montell also took to her Instagram Story to addresses the 'tough' situation she and Johannes found themselves in as she confirmed an injury blow. "Today was hard. Tonight was hard for many reasons," she started by saying. "This week was really challenging. We had one day of training. JoJo was not okay.

"He was really injured from the last show. We fought on and we were in the bottom two. It just shows that in these moments that this is where the fight starts and it was tough. It was really tough to know that you've given everything but I'm really proud of what we were able to do and I'm proud of who it made us in those moments and how it's going to help us grow. It's also going to always remind us to fight until the very end."
