Flight attendant knew things had to change when she had to walk 'sideways' on plane

A former air hostess who struggled to walk down the aisle has shared how she successfully shed an amazing six stone.

Jeanie Logan, from Middleton, spent years living off pasta bakes, chicken Kievs and oven chips due to her busy lifestyle.

An ex-flight attendant, the 44-year-old would regularly gorge on chocolate and Pringles as she couldn’t find time to make proper meals.

The mum-of-one, who trains travel and business apprentices, eventually faced a terrifying health scare when she learned she had high cholesterol.

A doctor warned her she could develop serious heart problems and might not live to see her son grow up unless she changed her ways.

That’s when she decided to join Slimming World, signing up to her local group in August 2011. Jeanie tipped the scales at 16.5st and was a dress size 18 at the time.

Through following a food plan and exercising, the mum went on to lose an incredible six stone – now weighing in at 10.5st while being a dress size 10.

“I just didn’t look after myself,” she told the Manchester Evening News. “I was eating jarred food and what I thought was the cheaper options – three-for-two pasta bakes with sauces, chicken Kievs and oven chips. Just convenience food. Takeaways were also a given.”

But her weight once saw her get into an embarrassing situation – being unable to walk down the aisle of a plane properly. “Cabin crew are perceived as elegant,” Jeanie, who is now a Slimming World consultant herself, added. “You should be pristine.

“But with me, it was more like my shirt didn’t fit properly and I couldn’t walk down the aisle. I had to walk sideways.

“Because I didn’t see it at the time, I just didn’t think about it. Now, I look back at the struggles I went through and I didn’t want my son to go through them too.

“It wasn’t nice when you look back at it. I was wearing frumpy clothes and had to ask for a bigger uniform. I just felt really frumpy.

“I just felt awful. I used to joke to my husband that he would run off with someone else. The words you could say to yourself could be evil. I used to belittle myself quite a lot. It was just horrible.

Jeanie also credits ‘fakeaways’ as part of her weight loss transformation, meaning she makes her own versions of popular fast-food takeaways at home.

Instead of ordering through a takeaway app, the mum will add everything she would normally choose to her basket and head to the shop to buy all the ingredients to make it herself – saving hundreds of pounds in the process.
