Tommy Fury has said he'll 'love' Molly-Mae Hague 'until the day he dies' as he was seen tackling a probe into his relationship during his first TV interview since their break-up.

The boxer appeared on This Morning on Thursday (October 10) to promote the release of his book, Lightning Can Strike Twice, with the launch coming just two months after he and Molly-Mae confirmed the end of their relationship after five years together.

Appearing on the ITV show's famous sofa, Ben Shephard was the first to ask Tommy about the turbulent few months he's had, which is included in an added chapter in his book, and asked him how he was doing.

But Ben didn't stop his probe and sharing how Tommy writes in the book about his and Molly-Mae's relationship being very public, he asked how the sportsman and TV star has dealt with the criticism he has faced in the wake of the break-up which saw people "jump to the conclusion he'd done something wrong".

"There's a lot of critics out there and there will be a lot of critics until the day I die, everyone pointing the finger when there's a bandwagon to jump on but at the end of the day, out of respect for Molly and out of respect for myself, to our relationship and to us, I'm going to let us deal with that in private as much as we can.

"I'm just happy to be here today to talk about my book and I want to leave all that stuff to me and Molly because we owe that respect to ourselves to do that." Ben, however, went on: "You did add an extra chapter [to the book] didn't you and there is one accusation that you've addressed which is this accusation that in some way you cheated on Molly.."

On the spot, Tommy continued to duck from Ben's questioning and said: "Like I said, I'm going to leave all that stuff for me and Molly to work through because at the end of the day, a lot of stuff has been put out there, the whole world seen what we've been going through and in the book, I added a last chapter in there.

"I talked about all my feelings leading up [to the split] and how I've felt during this time. It's all in the book, I felt free in the book to speak which is why I added the last chapter to keep everybody up to date. I talk about my feelings in the last two months and it has been tough but you can read about it all in there."

Asked if they want to get back together by Ben, who said the couple and their daughter appeared as a "wonderful team" Tommy let out a slight laugh as he replied: "Like I say, they are my family. At the end of the day, I'll love them until the day I die."

He also revealed what made him go into Love Island in the first place, with the decision changing the trajectory of his life forever as it's where he met Molly-Mae in 2019. Admitting seeing the pictures from the 2019 series on-screen felt like 'a lifetime ago', Tommy admitted: "I feel like that was when I was 19/20 now I feel like I'm 60. But great memories."

On how he ended up on the dating show in the first place, Tommy said: "I only did Love Island in the first place because my fight got cancelled. I'd never watched it before. I'd never seen it, didn't know what I was getting myself into but they said, 'You're going to be in Spain,' and I thought, 'I've not been on holiday for a while, I haven't got a lot of money'. So I went, 'Yeah, I'll go on it', and went on it and ended up finding love and finding the mother of my child so it was a very eventful summer."
