Coronation Street's Joel star admits 'hardest scenes' he's filmed as co-star says 'I'll have you'

Coronation Street star Calum Lill has shared with fans the 'hardest scenes' he's had to film. The actor will have no doubt had some difficult filming days in recent months thanks to playing Joel Deering in the ITV soap.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Joel was Lauren Bolton's 'secret boyfriend' and was behind her disappearance and presumed murder after he was seen attacking her with a chair leg.

The big reveal came after Roy Cropper went from the trauma of being falsely imprisoned over Lauren's 'death'. Luckily, the teen survived and returned to Weatherfield when Roy fell ill, pregnant with Joel's baby.

After Lauren's return, Joel's partner Dee-Dee Bailey discovered what her fiancé had been up to and has since teamed up with DS Lisa Swain to bring Joel down after it was revealed that Lauren wasn't the only young girl he had groomed, with Swain's daughter Betsy also involved with the evil solicitor.

The pair, with the help of Betsy's admission, managed to nail Joel for buying the drugs used to prompt Lauren's early labour, having intended for her to miscarry, with baby Frankie's health remaining in a fragile state.

During last Friday's (September 27) episode of Corrie, viewers saw Joel not show up to his plea hearing and a warrant was issued for his arrest. After transferring money to Lauren and his ex-wife Emily, it was believed Joel may end up taking his own life.

The episode ended with Joel crying in his car. He recorded a message for Dee-Dee, telling her he still loves her. After ending the call, Joel looked at himself in the car mirror, and a large wound was shown across his face. But before then, Corrie viewers saw Joel at the café. Drunk and clutching a bottle, he locked the premises, and proceeded to offload his guilt to Roy as he confided that he couldn't face all the people he had hurt.

Joel apologised to Roy for allowing him to be jailed for his own crimes, and Roy urged him to do the right thing and hand himself in - but Joel smashed the café phone before Roy could call the police.

Now, actor Calum has revealed that doing the scenes with Corrie legend David Neilson was the 'hardest' he's had to do. Sharing a smiling selfie of the pair taking on the Roy's Rolls set, he wrote on Instagram: "Not gonna lie, having to be mean to the nation’s sweet heart Roy Cropper was one of the hardest scenes I’ve had to act in!"

He added: "But David who plays Roy is incredible and what an honour to have gotten to work with him. #roycropperisinnocent," before adding a snap of him wearing his 'Roy Cropper is Innocent' t-shirt. Corrie co-star Jude Riordan, who plays Roy's pal Sam Blakeman, was quick to respond, joking: "I'll have ya!"
