Rylan Clark asks 'what have I done' after debate sparks phone call from pal Rob Rinder

by · Manchester Evening News

Rylan Clark is seemingly questioning his decision to take a real-life annoyance onto social media after receiving a call from his co-star and pal Rob Rinder.

The TV and radio presenter went viral this week when he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a rant about pedestrian crossings before he was left joking that he's 'completely heartbroken'.

It all kicked off when Rylan, 35, slammed 'rude b*****ds' regarding people using zebra crossings. In a post that was accidentally deleted from the social media platform, he branded a pedestrian a 'rude p***k' for failing to express gratitude for being 'allowed' to cross.

Later on Wednesday evening (October 2), the BBC Radio 2 host then returned to social media as his original post went missing, despite still being flooded with responses.

In the fresh post, he said: "Dunno how I deleted my tweet from earlier was looking at ur replies. Read like this 'I know it's the law and that pedestrians have right of way at zebra crossings... BUT SAY THANK YOU OR POP UR HAND UP. Rude p***ks... (Stuck in traffic and annoyed).'

"Didn’t realise would spark some massive debate. This hasn’t got anything to do with the law, who should do what, I’ve just been brought up to say thanks when a car slows down at a zebra crossing. Also, thanking a bus driver when you get off a bus. Things like that When I was on Room101 this is something I put in as my subject. As a pedestrian, I’d always thank a driver stopping so I can cross. Whether it’s my right of way or not."

He continued: "For people tweeting 'Would you as a driver thank a pedestrian for walking along the pavement and not in the road?!?' - bit different babe. 'Are you annoyed they didn’t recognise you'- completely heartbroken. Just manners. Enjoy your day. Look both ways."

While there was some who were debating Rylan's stance, many of his followers were on his side. Now, offering an update on Thursday (October 3), the 35-year-old has revealed his rant has gone one step further.

Returning to X, he said: "Rob just messaged me to say they’re actually gonna discuss the Zebra crossing drama on GMB [Good Morning Britain tomorrow. WHAT HAVE I DONE."

In response, @AuntieJean1 said: "Opened a can ‘o beans by the looks!" @craig_c83 quipped: "You crossed the line." @djm197401 replied: "You're only human no drama , still gonna tune in obvs." @whatsthecraic1 pointed out: "The discussed it on #ThisMorning today." @Charlottesayshi added: "They discussed it on this morning today too!! They should invite you on to have a proper debate about it hahaha."
