EastEnders spoilers: David Wicks returns, abuse twist and Lola Pearce tribute ruined

EastEnders is set to air some dramatic scenes as David Wicks makes a comeback next week.

Cindy finds herself in shock when David reappears in the Square, but she's determined to avoid any uncomfortable reunion - especially since he believes she's deceased. Viewers of the BBC soap will recall that Cindy was thought to have 'died' during childbirth while incarcerated, but it was subsequently disclosed that she had been placed in witness protection under the pseudonym Rose Knight and had two children with George Knight.

In the upcoming episodes, Cindy discusses with George why David's return could be problematic for her, and he advises her to simply talk to him. David gets the surprise of his life when he sees Cindy standing before him, very much alive.

The duo have a lot to catch up on, and David has questions for Cindy as they sit down to discuss the past few decades. Meanwhile, Ian is appalled to learn that David has returned.

In other news, David shifts his focus to Bianca and the two engage in some profound discussions - but what exactly do they need to discuss?

Elsewhere on the Square, Kat Slater faces difficulties next week when Tommy Moon acts out against her. The family's financial situation is worsening, leading Tommy to believe he has no option but to steal from the cafe.

Kathy catches him in the act and informs Kat that she needs to sternly address the issue with him. However, when she attempts to speak with him later, he physically intimidates her.

Later, the atmosphere sours when Tommy disrupts Jay's moment as he shares a heart-warming video message from cherished Lola for his 30th birthday. An irritated Kat pleads with Tommy to amend his behaviour, and Phil is taken aback by Tommy's brash retort.

As Kat confronts him once more regarding the cafe theft, the situation escalates dramatically when Tommy attempts to exit and Kat intervenes. The question remains whether Kat can guide Tommy to rationality or if this marks the onset of an agonising chapter for the clan.

Earlier in the year, Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw spoke about the narrative, mentioning: "Kat is well-known in Albert Square for her no-nonsense attitude and fiery temper, but this storyline will explore how Tommy manipulates Kat's unequivocal love for her son to exert his anger and elicit control. Jessie [Wallace] and Sonny's [Kendall] performances have thoughtfully portrayed the complex realities of child to parent abuse with compassion and understanding, and the storyline will demonstrate how Tommy's behaviour effects their relationship and the wider Slater-Moon family as a whole."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
