Emmerdale's Eden Taylor-Draper has suggested that the end is near for villain Tom King.

Viewers will remember that Tom (played by James Chase) has been tormenting and manipulating his wife Belle for months. She has since confessed the truth to her family and broken up with Tom, eager to escape his control.

However, events took a shocking turn last week when Tom confronted Belle at her home and assaulted her. Armed with a firearm, Belle fled as Tom pursued her around the village, eventually cornering her in a deserted flat.

After breaking down the door with an axe, he prepared to shoot Belle. But she retaliated by stabbing Tom in the back with an axe, before escaping.

After sharing what happened with Lydia (Karen Blick), Sam (James Hooton) and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson), the family devised a plan to conceal the body. However, Tom was ultimately discovered and rushed to hospital, reports Leeds Live.

He was reported to have a punctured lung and internal bleeding, and was taken for a scan. It was later disclosed that Tom had survived - leaving Belle distraught, knowing that if Tom wakes up he will seek revenge.

But now, actress Eden, who plays Belle, seems to have confirmed that Tom's reign of terror may soon be over. On Monday (September 30), Eden appeared on ITV's This Morning.

When pressed by co-host Ben Shephard on whether Tom will face retribution, Eden answered cryptically: "I hope so." Eden, who has played the beloved Belle since 2005, continued: "And I think to do the story right, and to show that justice can be done."

The star opened up about the intense storyline, confessing: "It is exhausting not just for me and James, but for everyone. When you're there seven to seven shooting scenes it's like 'wow.'" She added: "But the passion for getting it right, is what drives us, and we are so passionate about it. And it's the most rewarding storyline."

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
