Dr Punam Krishan has revealed she forced Gorka Marquez to suffer a bit of a blunder following their first-ever live routine on Strictly Come Dancing - but viewers may have missed it.

The practicing GP and the Spanish dancer are among the 15 couples taking part in the BBC One dance contest this year. After their pairing was discovered during the launch show earlier this month, Dr Punam and Gorka were seen performing together for the first time.

The competition really got underway on Saturday night (September 21) as all of the new Strictly couples performed together for the first time followed by the judges' comments and scores.

Dr Punam and Gorka were given 19 points by the judges after they danced the cha cha to Love At First Sight by Australian pop star Kylie Minogue while sporting vibrant red outfits.

Following their first performance, Gorka has already been quick to praise his new dance partner. Alongside a picture of them both in action in the ballroom, the 34-year-old wrote on his Instagram Story: "Our first dance on the @bbcstrictly floor and I couldn't be more proud of @drpunamkrishan.

"Totally out of her comfort zone doing something that is miles away [from] what her job is and went out and smashed it." He added: "Can't wait to get started with our second dance."

Now, Dr Punam has returned to Morning Live where she reflected on her performance. Speaking on the BBC One show on Tuesday (September 24), she said: "It still doesn't feel real, I'm watching that just there going: 'That's me?'"

She then revealed what went slightly wrong at the end of their routine with Gorka, saying: "I had two goals, which were do not fall on your bum and do not forget the routine. So, at the very end, Poor Gorka had his hands up there for a high ten and I just went onto the floor, like: 'I nailed it!'"
