BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans 'speechless' as they slam public vote and demand 'recount'
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsStrictly Come Dancing fans said they were 'speechless' as they slammed the public's voting decisions that saw Sam Quek land in the dance-off before being sent home.
It was another rollercoaster weekend in the ballroom as the competition continued to heat up. Saturday night (November 2) marked week seven in the BBC One dance contest and it was also the first-ever 'Icons Week'.
The new themed week saw the remaining 10 celebrities and their professional dance partners take to the dance floor to perform a routine accompanied by a track from a well-known singer or band - with the likes of Whitney Houston, Madonna, George Michael and Bruno Mars all chosen.
It was a near-perfect night for JB Gill and stand-in professional partner Lauren Oakley as they scored the joint-highest score of the night as JB's usual partner, Amy Dowden, watched from the studio sidelines after ill health saw her out of the week's rehearsals.
They were joined in the top spot by Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec following their own moving couple's choice routine to P!nk's What About Us. Closely following was Miranda actor Sarah Hadland and her professional partner Vito Coppola as they scored 37 for their cha cha to Madonna’s Just Like A Prayer.
Meanwhile, Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe and Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu both scored 35 out of a possible 40 points for their respective performances - a waltz to I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston and a quickstep to a medley of The Beatles' biggest hits.
But on Sunday night (November 3) the results show was all about the latest dreaded dance-off and facing Sam and her dance partner Nikita Kuzmin was Gladiator Montell Douglas and her dance partner Johannes Radebe.

Both couples had to reprise their icon-themed routines again, with Sam and Nikita dancing an American smooth to Taylor Swift’s Love Story while Montell and Johannes re-performed their waltz to I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston.
After reperforming their routines, all four judges - Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke - all agreed unanimously to save Montell and Johannes, therefore making Sam and Nikita the sixth couple to exit the competition.
And Strictly fans were shocked by the latest bottom-two. @leons_lifespan fumed: "I am actually speechless. They should really take away the public vote I’m so f**king serious." @wizardofozxx shared: "I demand a recount."
@jordanlea29 posted: "I'm sorry what!! My first question is why was either couple in the dance off??!! And 2nd why are the worse ones still in?@paradiseieah added: "Actually so annoyed at this??? neither of the couples in the dance off deserved to be there when they’ve improved week after week and then there’s others that have had several bad weeks and keep sailing through."
