Cadbury treat that disappeared for a decade makes welcome return for Christmas

by · Manchester Evening News

A Cadbury chocolate treat which reappeared last year after being missing for a almost a decade is back again this Christmas. Shoppers were ecstatic when Dairy Milk chocolate coins arrived in stores again in 2023 - and we were a bit partial to them ourselves.

It had been nine years since the company had discontinued the treat, blaming a drop in sales and customers switching to less expensive supermarket own brands.

But after listening to 'customer feedback', the company decided to bring back its much-loved coins, a product its says 'represents festive joy and delicious nostalgia for so many'.

And the return of the 'beloved holiday treasure' proved so popular that they're back again for this festive season and already flying off the shelves.

The cheapest you'll find a 70g net of them is £1.65 from the likes of B&M, Poundland, Iceland and Asda, and Tesco's Clubcard price is the same, although other retailers, including Sainsbury's, are selling them for £2.

They work out a bit more expensive than own brand versions, but each coin is an almost Easter egg-type piece of chocolate which for Cadbury fans nothing else will compete.

"After nearly a decade off the shelves, these beloved chocolate coins are making their second consecutive return. Relive the nostalgia and joy of these timeless treasures as they make another festive comeback.”

Sadly last year's money box gift tin containing some of the chocolate coins isn't returning this year, but there are five new products on the shelves for Christmas, including Cadbury Mini Puds, a Mini Snowballs Bar, a Cadbury 200 Year Selection Box, a new Cadbury Dairy Milk Creamy Advent Calendar, and a Toblerone Truffles & Tiny’s Advent Calendar.

"At Cadbury, we're delighted to unveil a festive range that offers something for everyone and every occasion – whether it's sharing our new Mini Puds on a cosy night in, surprising someone special with an advent calendar, or enjoying stocking-filler favourite, Cadbury Coins, on Christmas Day.

"We believe our Christmas range is full of ways to spread small moments of generosity and Cadbury magic this festive season."
