Coronation Street's Andy Whyment declares love for co-star after move away from cobbles

by · Manchester Evening News

Coronation Street Andy Whyment has declared his love for his co-star after they joined forces for a good cause. The actor took to social media with the comment in response to a post from friend and colleague Alan Halsall.

The soap stars, who are famed for playing Weatherfield's Kirk Sutherland and Tyrone Dobbs for more than two decades, recently hosted a charity event alongside fellow Corrie star Sam Aston, who is best known for playing Chesney Brown in the ITV soap.

The trio hosted a charity golf day at Worsley Park Country Club for Holly's Hearts, a charity which created 'heartwarming memories for children with cancer'.

As well as the golf, the trio hosted an evening reception and posted a picture of them to Instagram, in which they looked smart in shirts and trousers, Alan said:" So proud to host another year of @al_andy_sam_charity_golf at @worsleypark for this year's amazing charity @hollysheartsuk. It was fantastic day & night as always! Raising money for a brilliant cause. Thank you to everyone involved."

He's since returned to social media with another snap in which he could be seen attempting to kiss Andy on the cheek, while sporting a pair of novelty red glasses.

"Not sure how he puts up with me @andywhy36," Alan wrote alongside the photo before adding: "Great [photo] @nicski31," referring to Andy's wife Nichola Whyment.

was left declaring his love for his co-star as he marked a major milestone. He took to social media with a jokey tribute to his castmate Simon Gregson. The soap star, who is famed for playing Weatherfield's Steve McDonald for more than 30 years, was celebrating on Wednesday (October 2) as he turned big 50.

Friend and colleague Alan took to social media to send Simon a heartfelt message - or at least it was after his initial mocking of his pal. Sharing a photo to his Instagram Story, Simon could be seen lifting Alan from around the waist. In the caption, Alan wrote: ''How on earth you've made it to 50, I'll never know!!'' He continued: ''But I'm bloody glad you have, I love you mate.''
