Six epic Bonfire Night events in and around Plymouth

As the nights grow colder and longer, many find themselves cozying up indoors with hot chocolates and warm, fuzzy blankets. But there’s every reason to be outside this November with the approach of Bonfire Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Night—an evening of festivities and fireworks.

Plymouth is already gearing up for the annual commemoration, with a range of fun-filled events that are guaranteed to help you avoid being stuck indoors this autumn.

Whether you're after a family-friendly fairground and fireworks display, or a bustling celebration, there is something for everyone. Take a look at our list below.

Plymouth Hoe - Tuesday, November 5

Plymouth is set to celebrate yet another year of Bonfire festivities, as the traditional Bonfire Night display returns to The Hoe. Kicking off in the afternoon, the event will feature a fairground, as well as a variety of food and drink options. The bonfire is set to be lit at 7 PM, followed by a formidable firework show at 7:30 PM. The event is free for all ages.

Those wishing to stay away from crowded areas may access the top of the Belvedere via Hoe Promenade for viewing, which will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Tavistock Lions Club - Saturday, November 2

The Lions Club of Tavistock is putting on a firework display on Saturday, November 2 at the Tavistock Community Football Club.

The event starts at 7pm and gates open at 6.15pm. People are invited to "come early and enjoy the Lions' barbecue". Advance prices: Adult £5 Under-16 £1.50. If you are paying on the night, you can use cash or card. Adults are £6 and under-16's are £2. A family ticket will cost £15.

Clearbrook Firework Display - Tuesday, November 5

Experience an exciting firework display on Dartmoor, accompanied by a massive bonfire in celebration of Guy Fawkes Night. Refreshments, including soup and mulled wine will be available from 6 PM. The bonfire will be lit at 6:45 PM, with the sky illuminated by fireworks at 7 PM.

Tickets can be purchased on the night. Adult admission is £5. There is no charge for children under 16.

Bonfire and Fireworks Night atPort Eliot House & Gardens - Saturday, November 2

Port Eliot House and Gardens invites everyone to join their magnificent Bonfire event, featuring a bonfire and a fireworks display. Catering, hot drinks and the Eliot Arms Bar will be available for enjoyment, as well as entertainment such as a bouncy castle and live music.

The schedule for the evening includes a “Best Guy” competition at 6:30 PM, with prizes of £50 for first place, £25 for second, and £10 for third. All entrants will have the option to place their Guy on the bonfire before it is lit at 7 PM. The fireworks display will commence at 8:30 PM.

Tickets can be purchased online for both Adults (£9.78) and Children aged 5-17 (£4.98)

Big Bonfire Night & Firework Display at Dartington Estate, Totnes - Saturday, November 2

Join the celebration at Dartington Estate this November for an enticing night of fireworks and a bonfire ignited by the Mayor of Totnes at 5:30 PM. The event will feature FireFly fire sculptures, live music, a BBQ and a heep of other street food and drinks.

Tickets are priced at £8 for Adults, £4 for Children, and £20 for a family ticket.

Exeter Round Table Fireworks Show at Westpoint, Exeter - Saturday, November 2

Radio Exe will be hosting a pyrotechnical musical charity display in Exeter, featuring a fireworks show synchronised to the music from The Greatest Showman. Gates open at 5:30 PM, and attendees are welcome to enjoy funfair rides, a licensed bar, as well as various catering outlets. All proceeds from the event will benefit local charities funded by the Exeter Round Table.

Tickets are available for online booking only, priced at £14 for Adults, and £7 for Children.
