Coronation Street's Jesse's dark secret 'exposed' after return - and it's bad news for Gail

Coronation Street fans have shared their thoughts on Jesse Chadwick, who made a shock return to the cobbles this week after leaving Weatherfield back in 2010

Coronation Street fans reckon they've sussed out the secret Jesse Chadwick is keeping, following his unexpected return to Weatherfield.

The character Jesse, portrayed by John Thomson, initially turned up on the street back in December 2008 and promptly became a mainstay the next year. He's well remembered for his romance with Corrie stalwart Eileen Grimshaw (played by Sue Cleaver).

Yet in 2010, Jesse bade farewell to the cobbles. This week, much to the surprise of the locals, he was back treading those famous stones. Jesse's comeback ties into the departure narrative of Gail Platt (acted by Helen Worth). Veteran actress Helen is set to depart from the show after an impressive half-century tenure.

In Wednesday's episode (October 9), Jesse popped up again with the aim of reconnecting with Gail, reports the Liverpool Echo. Their history was unravelled; they had formed a bond years ago during a sojourn in Thailand.

But it was his actions in the latest episode that set tongues wagging about his real motives for his return. Moreover, soap aficionado Sharon Marshall hinted at something more brewing beneath the surface. Making an appearance on This Morning on the same Wednesday (October 9), she dished some details about his mysterious reappearance.

Her words: "People hiding secrets. You will see that Jesse is hiding something, what's everyone keeping quiet? " Now, fans are convinced they have 'figured out' Jesse's concealed truth - and it spells trouble for Gail.

On a Corrie fan group on Facebook, one user posted: "Thoughts on Jesse? " Another added their two pence, remarking: "Don't trust him. He's probably killed someone, he's shady imo." A third commented: "Defo something along those lines."

Another viewer posted: "Oh no Gail! She never has any luck with men." A fifth speculated: "He will sweep Gail off her feet with his lavish lifestyle in the sun. Or he will try and harm her entire family. I think the second," they added. A sixth wrote: "I don't trust Jesse at all, his chemistry with Gail seems fake."
