Inside Richard and Judy's life in Cornwall seaside village where homes cost £700k
by Sophie Law, Millie Bull · PlymouthLiveRichard Madeley and Judy Finnigan have been married for 36 years and have spent the majority of that time in the idyllic village of Polperro in Cornwall, which is home to just over 1,000 people.
The couple are the renowned husband-and-wife team who initially captured the nation's heart as the original hosts of ITV's 'This Morning'.
Subsequently, they took to the screens with their own Channel 4 talk show 'Richard and Judy', which was broadcast from 2001 until 2008.
In addition, the pair penned their joint memoir 'Richard and Judy: The Autobiography', which hit the shelves in 2002.
Branching out on their own, Judy, 76, has earned acclaim as a Sunday Times bestselling author with her novel 'Eloise', while Richard has been seen presenting on ITV's 'Good Morning Britain'.
Their paths first crossed back in 1982 at Granada TV, where both were already married to other partners, reports the Express.
The couple tied the knot in Manchester in 1986 and have since welcomed two children, Jack and Chloe. Richard also plays the role of stepfather to Judy's twin children from her previous marriage.
Beyond their television fame, Richard, 68, and Judy, 78, relish a tranquil existence in the picturesque Cornish village of Polperro.
Before exchanging vows, the duo spent a holiday week in Cornwall, staying in a cottage nestled between Looe and Polperro, and now they reside near Talland Bay, close to Polperro.
Judy shared in Coast Magazine last year, "We live at Talland Bay, near Polperro, that is where we call home. We are here most of the time and Richard likes to walk over the cliff path to Polperro every day."
She added: "It is a great walk and you get to meet and know local people who have mostly accepted us as their own now."
Polperro, a quaint fishing village nestled on the south coast of Cornwall, is brimming with charm. The harbour offers visitors breathtaking views of the sea and cottages tucked into the verdant hillside.
The large village is renowned for its smuggling history that dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as the South West Coast Path that runs directly through it.
From Polperro, one can stroll along the coast path towards Looe, eventually reaching the tranquil Talland Bay.
Talland Bay boasts two coves, forming two beaches - Talland Sands and Rotterdam Beach. Both provide opportunities for rock pool exploration at low tide and swimming in the bay's crystal clear waters.
Polperro offers a variety of property types, including cottages - some of which are Grade II-listed - terraced houses, detached houses, semi-detached houses and flats.
However, purchasing a property in this charming village doesn't come cheap, as per data from Rightmove.
Over the past year, properties in Polperro had an overall average price of £704,300.
Detached properties made up the majority of sales in Polperro over the last year, selling for an average price of £1,003,333. Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £250,000, while terraced properties fetched £261,500.
