Agatha All Along’s Teen Identity Reveal Is Unsurprising, Absolutely Epic

Agatha All Along had its shortest episode yet last night, but definitely its most impactful. After being chased by the Salem Seven and a trial that involved an ‘80s themed sleepover where Agatha was haunted by her mother and accidentally(?) killed Alice, we got the biggest reveal of the series. We know who Teen is. And we can probably stop calling him Teen.

The show did this so cleverly minutes before the big reveal that you might have missed it. In the test room, Teen reads a name off the Ouija board, Nicholas Scratch, the name of Agatha’s dead son.

We knew that name, of course, but the significance here is that the glamour preventing Teen from saying who he was did not prevent him from saying Nicholas Scratch, which confirms to Agatha once and for all that Teen is not secretly her lost son. Hence her immediate tone shift and her realization of who Teen actually is.

That would be Billy Maximoff, son of Wanda Maximoff, who goes on to become the comic book Young Avenger Wiccan. Though maybe he already is Wiccan, judging by what came next.

It’s revealed not just that Billy is Billy, but that he already secretly has powers, and is able to mind-control the surviving witches to toss Agatha in a bog, then launch themselves into the muck for good measure. All three would appear to be dead but…obviously they’re not dead. Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal, who we all believe is Death at this point, is nowhere to be found at the moment, so maybe she saves them.

The “already Wiccan” idea comes to fruition as we see Billy wearing his signature headband, though here it’s fashioned to resemble his mother’s Scarlet Witch crown. He’s powerful, he’s got the outfit, he’s…essentially Wiccan as-is.

There are many questions about this, namely who knew his identity and when. One odd thing in hindsight is that we saw Billy positively freaking out while alone when the Salem Seven were coming after him, and used no magic to defend himself. So did he remember later? Was this week actually the first moment Agatha knew? What about the other witches? What about Rio?

But Billy being Wiccan leads into another development, what’s he doing on The Road? I mean, I think we know. What would the son of a powerful dead witch want as his “heart’s desire” if he reaches the end? This entire series has been building to the resurrection of Wanda Maximoff after her death Multiverse of Madness, which would echo insider reports Scarlet Witch will return to have a big role in the MCU from here. I don’t know how else this plays out.

Where things go from here is another matter. Billy’s secret is out, he outright attacked the coven, Rio is missing, the Seven are in pursuit, they still have more trials. But the show very much feels like it’s going to have to switch gears now given Agatha killing another member and Billy’s attack. No more skipping down the path to new house after house holding hands. In the final four episodes, things are going to get wild.
