Katy Perry departed her Las Vegas residency last year with fans buzzing about new music on the way. Perry kicked off the lead-up to her new album 143 earlier this summer with lead single “Woman’s World” and follow-up “Lifetimes.” At the MTV Video Music Awards last week, she performed Doechii collab “I’m His, He’s Mine,” with the Crystal Waters-sampling track further showcasing the dance-pop world of the new LP.

143 is out today and features guest artists like Kim Petras, 21 Savage, and JID as Perry sings over an array of pop tracks produced in part by Dr. Luke. Some outings like “Crush” and “Nirvana” are created with dance floors in mind, while songs like “All the Love” and closing track “Wonder” mix dance-pop with adult contemporary sounds.

When speaking about the album in a new interview with Zane Lowe, Perry shared how proud she is of the project and what it represents. “I’m so grateful for making this record. I always wanted to make a dance record, a dance-pop record,” she said. “With 143, it’s kind of three different things. It’s the quintessential me, with empowerment messages and uplifting messages, and then it’s real dance and real rhythmic.”

143 is purportedly one of two albums Perry has been dreaming of creating for quite some time, with the new album being a more upbeat counterpart to what could possibly be coming down the pike in her next era.

“I’ve been talking about [doing] two albums the past eight years and that’s a dance album and an acoustic album. I finally made the dance album, the album I always wanted to make,” she told fans of the album, per Variety.

Perry hasn’t announced any plans to tour just yet, but with her Las Vegas residency now in the rearview mirror and six years since she wrapped up her last tour, it’s possible fans can expect to see her on the road performing 143 at some point soon.
