Dumfriesshire SWI Federation President, Mima Telfer welcomed ladies to the annual quiz held at Dumfries High School recently.

Seventeen teams from institutes around the county took part in the event which caused a fine mix of fun and head scratching.

Mima was an excellent compere and Jane Hogg was timekeeper. Members of the executive supplied tea/coffee and home baked biscuits to keep the competitors alert.

Vice president, Norma Rae gave a comprehensive vote of thanks to the many people who ensured the evening ran smoothly and to question setter Elizabeth Thomson for providing a wide range of questions.

The winners were Ewes SWI with members Susie Grant, Marjorie Pringle, Tessa Lumley and Lorraine Morton. Runners up were Wamphray with members Veronica McNeish, Jacqueline Hogan, Lorna Bell and Mary Duncanson. Georgetown SWI were third.
