Kirkcudbright showcase to highlight variety of groups town has to offer

There are more than 50 organisations in the town, covering everything from sports clubs and singing to crafts and community groups

A showcase is set to spotlight the numerous groups and clubs on offer in Kirkcudbright.

There are more than 50 organisations in the town, covering everything from sports clubs and singing to crafts and community groups.

And a special event in the parish church hall on Wednesday aims to bring together the many varied groups, clubs and organisations so people can find out what’s on offer and see if they want to join one.

One of the organisers said: “This is a great opportunity to find out what’s on in the town. Without one consolidated place to go to find Kirkcudbright’s clubs and groups, we’re hoping this event gives people the information they need and acts as a matchmaker between groups and potential members.

“There’s no pressure or pitch at the event, just an opportunity to learn what happens in the town that you may not know about and may be interested in getting involved with.”

People can drop in anytime between 4pm and 7.30pm to find out about the fantastic array on offer, perhaps finding out about groups they didn’t previously know were on offer.

Each organisation will have a table giving the chance to find out more about what they do. The event is open to everyone with the target range being the DG6 postcode covering Kirkcudbright, Twynholm, Dundrennan and Borgue, but anyone living outwith this area is welcome to come along.

There is so much to benefit from joining a new club, group or organisation including meeting new like-minded people, gaining new skills, trying out a new hobby, giving something back to the community and supporting the fantastic range of organisations in Kirkcudbright.

The event is being organised by the Kirkcudbright Forum. If you are a part of an organisation and would like to have a table at the event, either to gain new members, volunteers or raise awareness, please email the Forum at forumkbt@gmail.com.
