The Scottish capital is gearing up to welcome a music legend, as Billy Joel brings his tour to Edinburgh. The American singer-songwriter will take to the stage at Murrayfield on June 7.

Fans can snap up tickets from October 4 at 10am. This marks the first time in over 40 years that the Piano Man will perform in Edinburgh, and it's set to be a highlight of his enduring legacy as one of the most captivating and successful live acts of all time.

His music has stood the test of time, and these concerts are sure to be unforgettable. The capital has already seen a boost from high-profile gigs this year, with Taylor Swift's Eras Tour estimated to bring in around £77million to the local economy.

Oasis also recently announced a tour date in the city, with thousands of fans quickly snapping up tickets to the Murrayfield show.

Scottish Rugby said of the upcoming gig: "New York's quintessential son is one of the greatest musicians of our time. Joel's songs have acted as personal and cultural touchstones for millions of people across five decades", reports Edinburgh Live.

The statement continued: "Joel's string of 33 Top 40 hits, all of which Joel has written himself, began with 1973's autobiographical 'Piano Man'. Written while Joel was playing in a Los Angeles lounge. In 2016, the Library of Congress selected 'Piano Man' for preservation in the National Recording Registry for its 'cultural, historic and artistic significance'."

"The hits have continued for almost five decades, with three of Joel's Top 40 songs 'It's Still Rock and Roll To Me', 'Tell Her About It' and 'We Didn't Start The Fire' peaking at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and 23 Grammy nominations awarded to Joel since he signed his first recording contract in 1972."

It added: "Joel is one of the most engaging and best-selling live performers of our time, with songs like 'Uptown Girl', 'Just The Way You Are', 'The Longest Time' and 'Vienna' amongst countless others. In January 2014, Joel began Madison Square Garden's first-ever music franchise performing one show at The Garden each month Billboard Magazine called it "The Greatest Arena Run in History.

"More than 50 years after his The Garden debut, after 10 years of sold-out shows, his final concert marked Joel's 150th lifetime performance at the venue this past July."

Tickets will go on general sale at 10am on Friday October 4, 2024, and will also be available from AEG Presents here.
