Royal commentators believe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could face a challenging time ahead, following Donald Trump's recent election victory over Kamala Harris. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously exchanged sharp words with Trump, which includes his brutal stance on Harry's US visa application details.

Royal expert Richard Eden now believes the pair will face problems if they choose to stay in America under Trump's power. "I think it is a real problem, yes, because suddenly America has become a much more hostile environment for Harry and Meghan now," he shared on The Daily Mail's Palace Confidential podcast.

"Meghan is, on record, she has criticised and said many unpleasant things about Donald Trump before she married Prince Harry. And there has been several statements from Mr Trump, and from members of his family, that they're not big fans of Harry and Meghan either," reports Aberdeen Live.

"So you've got that, that it's a more unpleasant environment for them, but also you've got the question of Harry's immigration status," he added.

Eden was referencing the Heritage Foundation's request to expose Harry's US visa details after he admitted to drug use in his book Spare. However, the Department of Homeland Security successfully defended Harry's right to privacy.

Eden concluded: "There's a lot of questions and I think it's a worrying time for Harry and Meghan."

Charlotte Griffith added on the podcast: "He'll be keeping his head down and burying it in the sand and possibly even running away to Portugal where he's got a new house."

She further suggested that Meghan would probably be "distraught" over Trump's re-election. Harry and Meghan relocated to the US in 2020 upon resigning from their high-ranking positions within the Royal Family.

Together they share two children; Archie, five, and three-year-old Lilibet. Despite continuous debates over his visa, Harry has reportedly pledged not to return to the UK due to concerns for Meghan's safety.

Since attending Queen Elizabeth II's funeral two years ago, she has not set foot in the UK while Harry, on the other hand, has made several solo trips back for family events and work obligations.
